What an honor. Did he go to the installation of St. Pius X?

He lived in New York City. Sadly, he suffered a severe heart attack in the year of his canonization (1954) and was unable to travel - although I'm told he was overjoyed.

His family had moved to Trieste (not that far from Treviso where he was an altar boy to Fr. Sarto) and from there they embarked on a boat to Brazil (his father - my great-grandfather - was a businessman). So he never got to be at Pius X's funeral.

The family eventually found their way to New York, where my grandfather grew up.

He died in 1957 when I was 3. I don't remember him; there's a picture of me sitting on his lap.
