Ted Haggard was once one of the most power evangelical leaders in America.
New Life Church leader Ted Haggard was once one of America's most charismatic and powerful evangelical leaders, with an audience of more than 30 million people. Ted began counseling foreign dignitaries and consulting on a weekly basis with President George W. Bush. By 2005, Time magazine named him one of the most influential evangelicals in America.
But no onenot even his devoted wife, five children and his Colorado Springs, Colorado-based congregationsuspected that Ted was paying an admitted male escort for crystal meth. In November 2006, Mike Jones publicly alleged he'd engaged in a three-year sexual relationship with the pastor, which Ted immediately denied. Three days after the scandal broke and after a voice mail featuring Ted asking Mike for drugs was released, Ted's story unraveled. Eventually, Ted admitted to sexual immorality and to buying drugs. He later resigned from the church he helped to found.
In his first television interview since the scandal, Ted talks with Oprah about why he kept secret a part of his life he calls dark and repulsive...
Ted says he and Gayle, as church leaders, made their private lives more public than many others in their position. "We were very open, very transparent, about everythingexcept this one area of my heart," he says.
Why did he keep such an important part of his life hidden from his church? "I thought it would go away," Ted says. "Unfortunately, that's the state in a lot of leadership roles. And when you're in a leadership role, whether it's political or a religious leadership role, that exists. And I'm not saying that as an excuse."

There was an article that was a few months ago and then reposted a few days ago about that church being humiliated.
If you think finding a sex scandal in an evangelical church not even involving minors with no cover up excuses the systematic evil in the RCC that goes all the way to the top in Rome knock yourself out. It is sad that the most recent exposure of widespread sexual abuse of boys has results in a competition btwn Catholicism and evangelicals of who is worse, but if you want to compare what Catholic actually attest to versus evangelicals then there is plenty of data .
The present issue is not only sexual abuse, but also the manner of it, and the cover up and manner and degree of resistance when accused, and .of restitution. My focus has been on the homosexual abuse, which i think is most harmful.
Its interesting the behavior of certain RCC here. They cannot contain their glee at finding sin in another but refuse to see it or denounce it in their own fold. I take no joy in what is happening to your denomination but mourn for how it brings dishonor to the name of Christ. I sincerely hope your hierarchy repents and cleans house. The same as any congregation or system should deal with sin. Being mindful of the Lord's words against duplicity. one thing all should agree on is that in any case of accusation ( even if not the extreme matters of these cases) we need to first ask ourselves if we are in degree or way guilty of what is being charged, including covering up sin, or not confessing to others how we have transgressed against them in some way without them knowing it. I think i may have some left to do myself.
If only they were allowed to marry!
Finally, a grown up in the room!
These incidents in a few scattered prot/evang churches unconnected to one another do not constitute the same level of deeply entrenched and institutionalized scandal in the RCC at all. Not at all. There are perverts in every walk of life, and that is no surprise. It is the response to evidence of perversion that matters. The RC has failed miserably at that since the infiltration by the communists in the 60s. Face it and demand change, and let the prots worry about their own churches.
I think your obvious enjoyment of repeating “gay hooker” sounds like the Church Lady. Self-righteousness is not a good look for Christians.
I’m really sorry that I offended your sensibilities using the term ‘gay hooker.’
Now, what term would your prefer I use to describe a homosexual that trades gay sex for cash?
I’d prefer that you pray and repent in intercession for the recently-named 300 criminal child abusers and for healing for the more than 1,000 damaged children. I think it might please the Lord a great deal more than gloating over a 15-year-old story about a single errant Baptist.
Shooting crystal meth for him was not a choice. He was born that way.

Unfortunately, I think your estimate of 300 criminal child abusers and a single errant Baptist is far too low.
Works both ways then.
I do think of most catholics as allies, I just wish more would read the good ol KJV for themselves.
Historically speaking, we’ve never been in a situation like this. Evil has always been trying to subjugate the masses, but now they have technology to heavily influence and control a lot of people. The truth is more important now than ever.

To be clear, I mean allies against tyranny. The catholic church is no true church, the true Catholic Church is actually heresy against God. A lot of catholics don’t follow true catholicism though, and many are actually Christians and don’t know it.
Anyone who prays to dead people though, or Mary, or believes in purgatory, or that Mary is queen of heaven etc is not of God. I just wanted to clarify.
