Bishop Ratko Perić of Mostar-Duvno, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has told Pope Francis' special envoy to Medjugorje, Archbishop Henryk Hoser, that all alleged apparitions of Our Lady in Medjugorje are not credible.
According to the Mostar-Duvno diocesan website (July 23) Perić based his judgment on the basis of numerous investigations.
The non-credible apparitions of the Medjugorje phenomenon include those in the first seven or ten days of 1981, he added.
In summer 2017 a Vatican commission suggested to recognise the first seven apparitions as allegedly supernatural.

If only people would listen.
The way this nonsense has been promoted over the years is appaling. I’m surprised they haven’t named some parishes “Our Lady of Medjugorje”.
Back in the 90s I was in a small town in Maryland called Emmitsburg. There was a small parish there were it had been claimed that Mary was appearing. I didn’t believe it and was there with family. When I stepped outside for air my gaze was directed skyward and I inexplicably began to stare at the sun. The sun appeared to be spinning like a top and it appeared greyed out with the outer edges ringed in flames. I was able to stare at the sun for many minutes. I had no problems at all with my eyesight afterwards. I only mention this because it’s a sign that accompanies apparitions of Mary. The clergy of The Catholic church has been taken over by liberals and homosexuals. I have a hard time trusting them anymore.
Yes, I was there many years ago with a friend. I remember how the seer - I can’t remember her name - fell into the kneeling position when the apparition happened. I had forgotten all about that trip until your post. How does one forget such a thing?
Were you at Emmitsburg or Medjugorje?
Why would any Catholic need to go to Medjudgorje when Jesus himself is present every day at Mass?
“All alleged apparitions of Our Lady in Medjugorje are not credible.”
True. The only reason why Pope John Paul II allowed Med. to continue was political: to have a foothold of prayer in Eastern Europe. Since the fall of the Wall in 1991, Med. is not needed. And it is a joke to think that the 15 phonies have daily talks with Mary for 25 years.
and yes, I have read Michael Davis’ book that cherry picked a lot of trivia out of context. But his book has poisoned the “ubertrad” branch of the church against the place.
And yes, I visited there back then, and it was a place of grace.
Wow. Where did you learn this about the signs accompanying apparitions of Mary?
I was at Emmitsburg.
Fatima.
The devil can work miracles. He fools many people.
Silly Demon to encourage people to turn to God.
A lot of the critics cherry pick incidents and quotes (as does Michael Davies) and point to the crazies and wanna be mystics that popped up, not to mention all the money made by local enterpeneurs, but these things popped up around Fatima and Lourdes too.
Look up the parable of the wheat and the tares.
A lot of the “trad” catholic antagonism is because it has connections to the Catholic charismatic movement. The local bishops oppose it because of their feud with the Franciscans (long story).
My take is that the Vatican will approve the first year or so of the apparitions, and ignore the later stuff, as they did with the Venezuelan mystic in Betania.
Why approve some apparitions and not the others?
Medjagoogoo has been going on for the past 37 years and no pope has ever approved them. But I wouldn't put it past Bergoglio to do so. For heavens sake, he's about to canonize Paul VI.
