According to Matteo Matzuzzi, the Bishop of Verona, Giuseppe Zenti who was assigned in 2007, in Italy, has said the following about his priest who ran off to the Canaries to get sodomarried. He writes,

He does not have to ask..HE’S OUT OF THE PRIESTHOOD!!!!
He has to be released from his vows.
Otherwise he is in a constant state of mortal sin.
Of course if he is living the sodomite life he is in constant mortal sin.
But there is a special place in Hell for those that break priestly vows.

Even if you pretend that “gaymarried” has any connection to holy matrimony, that still would not change this priest’s status. If a Catholic priest married a woman in the same situation, he’s still be out of a job for breaking his vows, and he should be. A man who celebrates giving in to desires that conflict with his vows, not just in a moment of weakness but as an ongoing choice, has no place leading others.
