My husband could make a lot more money if all he cared about was making money. We decided two decades ago that we wanted a family life, and his career choices let him have a real life with our children. Our two oldest, 27 and 24, were over for Father’s Day dinner. Bill will be going on a week-long kayak trip with DP and some others in August. Anoreth doesn’t think she’s in shape for it - a space is available because Elen will be going to Marines boot camp - but she’s proposing he take up golf again, which he hasn’t played since 2000 or so.

Our parents made the same decision. Mom was a "stay-at-home" 50's style mother.We kids didn't have all the latest toys and vacations our friends and family had but then, our parent's marriage lasted until death and none of us kids got on drugs, got pregnant or landed in jail.

Family's in the US forgot one has to raise your kids first, then have "fun"
