Vice President Mike Pence's speech at the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting Wednesday has left some Christians unhappy, especially the newly chosen leader of the SBC.

Isn't there an IRS rule that says any church involved with a political candidate loses it's nonprofit status?
Of course that rule only applies to Republicans. Rev. Jackson, and Rev. Sharpton, and all de rebrens violate this rule with impunity.
Of course the SBC has no problem when Obama campaigned at Baptist churches. Thats unity
I actually disagree, they have decided to side with evil.
Nothing wrong with stating the facts and that’s what the Vice-President did. My class is studying the Book of Revelation . . . going against God’s Precepts and Principles. . . not a good idea.
A little more bible and less PC might be what hes getting at. Seem some clergy have forgotten just who the advisary and his minions are. This a fight between good and evil. Not lets dont PO folks.
If they wanted a sermon why did they invite the Vice President? Did they expect him to talk about heaven?
This is a childish and disturbing reaction, hiding behind rhetoric rather than standing up for the president and his team for their commitment to renew the power and importance of religion, and especially Christianity, in our government.
Along with every other institution in the country.
Well-stated!
The self righteous SBC has always been more than happy to have Billy Jeff give em an earful
If they don’t want to mix with politics then it’s their fault for inviting him in the first place. What did they want him to do? Baptize people? Give a full on sermon. He’s not a pastor.
And I agree that God has appointed and anointed both Trump, Pence, their families, and the members of their administration “for such a time as this.” And Christians should be immensely GRATEFUL to GOD for their leadership because the implications have been HUGE and not everyone (including far more “holy” people) would have heeded the call or answered with much boldness as Trump has.
The clergy is as much to blame as the crooked politicians.
Edmund Burke said, The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Now is the time for all good men to pull up their pants and begin to do what needs to be done.
Thank you, President Trump! GOD bless you.

He’s an ass, but he seems very stylish.
And despite everyone’s attempts, Baptists recognize no “leader” outside their individual congregation. He does not lead a “denomination”. That was a dear goal of the fundamentalist crowd (calling themselves “conservatives”) that took over. They wanted a hierarchy badly, along with their 4000 year old earth. The SBC is merely a cooperative for missions, funding universities, etc.
Any way you could say a little more without the need for clicking?
Or maybe pence is your typical pandering POS politician and the Baptist see right through it.
????
Good grief. You’d think Cardinal Timothy Dolan had spoken there.
The liberal denominations sure have.
They invited a politician to talk and he talked about politics. Shocking.
“The gospel of King Jesus is not tied to any American political party.”
No, but one political party works overtime to attack Jesus and the Gospel. One political party openly promotes sin and attacks anyone who preaches from the Bible.
The SBC doesn’t have a leader. It has over 45,000 churches who unite for missions and seminaries. And if I had my way, we would unite for missions and dump the seminaries. But no one has the right to speak on behalf of the SBC. 45,000+ independent churches.
