Viktor Orban: “We do not Want to be Mixed with Others, We Are Fine the Way We Are Now”
Voice of Europe ^ | 6/8/18

Population transfer is under way in Europe, partly to help speculators like US financier George Soros make money by “destroying” the continent, Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, said on Friday.

It is necessary to openly fight Soros and his “army” and to establish that they want immigration and their ideological motivation is a multicultural Europe, Orban told Kossuth Radio.

“They do not like the traditions of Christian Europe and they believe that if they mix us with other peoples, then Europe will be more liveable. They want to destroy Europe because they expect large profits; that’s just the nature of financial speculators,” he said. However, “we do not want to be mixed with others,” Orban added.

“We are fine the way we are now”, as regards to Christianity, the language, culture and way of life, as well as the freedom of religion and the approach to family and relations between men and women, Orban said. Next year’s European Parliamentary elections will concern these issues and the conflict of values, he added.

The Hungarians have it right.

I have spent a lot of time in Hungary...in the bigger cities as well as the countryside.

One of the things I admired most about their culture is the solid roles of men and women and the non-competitiveness between the sexes. Men are men; women are women.

They do not compete.

So refreshing.

Tell her to look up DOBOSH TORTE; it's to die for ! :-)

Poppy Seed HORSESHOE/Ring is another of my and my family's favorites.

And then there are all of the varieties of Palacsinta and strudels.

And the cookies are AMAZING! Far too many to even begin to list all of the best ones, but the kiffle and pugachel ntie for first place. LOL

Most of us in the US can't claim that homogeneity peoples such as Hungarians and the Japanese can. Some want to destroy it and along with it, nationalism.

Hungary seems kind of landlocked, and no doubt there will be attempts to "starve" them into submission. Saw a Christmas photo of Budapest, breathtaking, don't know what I did with it, sent by a Hungarian naturalized American email pal long ago now deceased.

I don’t know if it is still true, but for most of its time/culture, “papa was the peacock, but mama ruled the roost”! That doesn’t mean that Hungarian men were/are “soft”...they aren’t, but men and women had their own “roles”, with each being valued.

Wow. Sounds delicious. Once she can round up the ingredients, she's committed to baking some of these goodies.

I see weight gain in my future. ;^)

Okay...warning notice here...a lot of the recipes you see on line are NOT authentic, nor correct and Dobosh Torte is one of THE most difficult cakes to make!

I'll be more than happy to send you the for real recipes for whatever you/your wife may care to try and the helpful hints & techniques. OTOH...there are two different bakeries that will send you mail order kiffle and other Hungarians cookies ( expensive but well worth every penny !)which I can give you their on line addies. :-)

Yes, we wouldn't mind the authentic recipes. She thinks she can pull it off with an easy-to-follow recipe.

She's just gone to bed though and I'll soon be joining her.

I'll FReepmail you in the morning, if that's ok with you.

Thanks!

Hungarians are NOT all that "homogenious" in nature at all.

It has been invaded and taken over, for millennia, by many different peoples! And it's size/territory has been shrunken and expanded and torn apart constantly! And then there are all of the people who were rounded up and murdered by the damned Nazis!

There never were any blacks ( there was once one...a little boy, whom a book was written about, but that was long, long, long ago ) and they were never involved in the slave trade!

OTOH...there were gypsies there for centuries, the Ottoman Empire invaded and took over for a while, so did the Hapsburgs, the Russians, Atilla the Hun, and Ancient Romans!

At one time, parts of Poland, Sovlakia, the Czech Republic, and parts of Romania were all part of Hungary; not the Autro-Hungarian Empire...HUNGARY!

So not just no, but HELL NO, Hungary isn't and never has been anything at all like Japan, though there IS a distant relationship between those two nations.

Oh that's okay and please DO FRmail me!

I'm more than happy to share my recipes, which have been handed down for many hundreds of years, with minor alterations ( nobody cooks on a wood burning stove and hasn't for well over 100 years, now, and we use butter, instead of lard, because American lard was NOTHING at all like what was available in Hungary [ not that I'd want to cook with lard, anyway ], and things like that ), but they don't change the taste nor finished products. :-)

There is absolutely NOTHING "simple" nor "easy" about making a Dobosh Torte; sadly. I'll explain in FRmail.

But there ARE plenty of other goodies that are far less involved and difficult, but still yummy. :-)

Hungarian food is wonderful and they make THE best desserts in the world! :-)

Authentic Hungarian Goulash is one of the two top meals most of my life.
When I could get it.

LOL...it's a "winter meal", which means it's off my menu for the next few months; however, I do make it a lot...the old fashioned way!

Actually there are about 7 different kinds of Goulash, one being a soup. But the beef kind is my favorite one.

It's really VERY easy to make, though if you do it the traditional way, it takes three days ( 2 if you are in a hurry ) to make/cook.

The first day, you may give it to beggars, the second day you may serve it to the servants or second best "friends", the third day...you/your family eats it!* ;^)

Just as good, if not better, is "THE FAMILY SOUP"; which also takes 2 days.

You want the recipe?

*The above is the hastily, a bit sloppily translation of the Hungarian saying about Goulash. :-)

Oh dear, you would have to jump all over me. You are no doubt correct in that through millenia they have intermingled with other peoples. But they are not like us either.

Why are you so hard on people you disagree with? You were civil once and I still have a brief conversation with you in my FReepmail.

I just got out of the hospital and not doing too great as if it would matter..

I didn't "jump all over you" at all; so please stop playing the victim card!

I am of Hungarian descent, I know Hungary's history, and all I did was post some facts. Not many people know much or even anything at all about Hungary, its history, and its people, so I was just trying to be informative.

I'm sorry that you just got out of the hospital and not doing all that well just yet. Perhaps you should just read/not post for a bit, so that you get enough rest to heal well, and I hope that you have a speedy recovery.

How ironic that they think we should *celebrate* our differences and yet at the same time condemn those who hold to them.

The hypocrisy of the left knows no bounds.

Good observation of the roles...as far as I know it's still true; but things tend to change even in time tested older cultures like Hungary.

Especially in the high tech oriented youth of Budapest.

The men are "peacocks" indeed...but the women are revered for their role in keeping the household and family intact.

Older Italian culture was very similar.

Thanks! :-)

I'm actually only going my "family stories"/"family lore" and my own observations of Hungarians ( those born and raised there ), whom I have met.

My family has been here since shortly after the American Civil War, so while they assimilated long ago, some things ( like the oldest female being a true "matriarch", not to mention running her and everyone else's kitchen, when she is at someone else's home and tracing the family through the female line ) just don't seem to die out; or haven't done so in my and other's families.

Yes, in way, this is similar to older Italian culture, with 2 exceptions : 1) women were/are treated as "equals" and not seen as "lesser lights" when it comes to opinions about politics or anything else 2) mothers don't hold onto their sons way into adulthood, as though they were still children and keep the tied to their apron strings.

What hasn't changed, EVER, in Hungary, is their desire for FREEDOM from outsiders and/or an oppressive government.

OTOH...Hungarian immigrants ( excluding that damned ex-Nazi, Soros ) have added much to American culture and Science, not to mention their contribution ( re the A Bomb ) to our success in winning WW II.
