Gentlemans Quarterly has proposed refashioning contemporary culture by unmooring it from the past, a feat that can be accomplished in part by updating lists of required reading.
First among these overrated books is the Bible, for which the GQ editors reserve some particularly choice epithets.... It is repetitive, self-contradictory, sententious, foolish, and even at times ill-intentioned, or, in a nutshell, certainly not the finest thing that man has ever produced.
The core of the GQ proposal is the surgical excision of books that serve to keep traditional values alive.
As simple as it is straightforward, GQs plan follows the tried-and-true political strategy of Antonio Gramsci, the Italian communist mastermind who explained in great detail how to overcome a cultural hegemony by replacing it with a new one (counter-hegemony).
The brave new world that the cultural left wishes to establish cannot come about as long as folklore (which includes art, literature, history, and other sources of national identity) remains rooted in the ideas and values of the Judeo-Christian West.
GQs proposal can only be viewed in these terms. It is not about suggesting more entertaining literature. It is about changing the cultural hegemony for the generations to come.

WOW!
I suggest the editors read Farenheit 451.
Mystery solved, I can rest now.
They have a point, in a twisted sort of way.
GOD produced the Holy Bible.
That the Gays and Queers at GQ magazine seek to denigrate the Bible, though, condemns them.
Thought GQ had ended years ago.
Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
13 for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Scripture sums up rather nicely this unholy and evil alliance mankind enters into with Satan when they reject God and of which GQ here advocates for and wants to banish. They should fear God and rightly so.
Romans 1:27-29 (KJV)
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
The Christian worldview is a common sense worldview that avoids the pitfalls of extreme worldviews such as secular humanism, Marxism, and postmodernism. The Bible avoids all of the extreme and lopsided views of the world.
-Idealism denies the existence of matter, holding that only mind is a reality
-Materialism holds just the opposite extreme view and denies the existence of the immaterial entities, consciousness and the faculty of reason
-The pantheist denies the transcendence of God
-the deist denies his immanence
-secularism places all the emphasis on the preent life in this world
-fanaticism ignores the presemt and concerns itself only with life to come
-buddhism would repress all human desires
-hedonism would do nothing but fulfill human desire
-Manicheanism holds that the human body is evil
-Hinduism teaches caste
-Confucianism ignores God and the future.
The Bible corrects the errors of these extreme views and presents a well-rounded common sense worldview.
Only when such support is useful to promote The Revolution.
The issue is never The Issue. The issue is always The Revolution.
Alinsky, you filthy bastard! I READ YOUR BOOK.
And Amen!!!
At least they thought they were and even proclaimed it to the world that they were. Just curious what they will think when they stand before their their/our Holy Father on Judgement Day?!
Or: Grievously Queer
And the Koran is....
Never heard of Gq magazine, what is some obscure web app?
1 Corinthians 1:18
I always turn to Vogue for "men" when I need information about literary merit.
Right? :)
“The bible is exactly what it claims to be.”
I’d say the bible is what it is. The bible contains no preface, introduction or executive summary so the bible as a whole claims nothing.
Today’s world tends to underrate the bible.
One thing about these progressives: they love to be iconoclastic. They can denigrate the Bible, Huckleberry Finn, Lonesome Dove, and Shakespeare all they want. Most people will laugh at them. Who wants to be “in sync” with their world? Not me.
Yeah I would have to agree with them. After being the best issued and most owned book in the world for over 2000 years, almost everyone might not need to buy a copy. But, according to Business Insider as late as 2012, they found that the Bible far outsold any other book, with a whopping 3.9 billion copies sold over the last 50 years. “Quotations from the Works of Mao Tse-tung” came in second with 820 million copies sold, and “Harry Potter” came in third with 400 million copies sold.
I guess it’s time for a re-write. And that’s what scares the liberals to death, literally.
