Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

In the days before Amazon, EBay, and Alibaba, there was a form of business called "Multi-Level Marketing". In those days, people would hold house parties to sell items that were not available in stores. Most prominent of these products were food-storage containers and skin care, but home parties were the method of selling all kinds of things: baskets, copperware, silk flower arrangements, wooden items, underwear (sensible and not-so), and many other things.

During the 1980's these parties reached a fever pitch, as everybody wanted to cash in on the trend. We began to dread being invited to these things, because we would spend lots of money that we didn't have, buying bunches of stuff we didn't want, in order to keep a friendship by not insulting the hostess by eating her food and then not buying anything!

At least at a make-up party, you could give yourself a facial...but then you KNEW you had to buy something, because you had just used up some of your friend's inventory to do it. (I used to sell this product, and spent more having the parties than I made in selling it! LOL) The method used the time-honored and ancient art of Hospitality (The Shared Meal) to sell a product. It was like being a constant bridesmaid, spending big bucks for a dress and a gift, and never being a bride!

In any case, back in the early 60's Mom went to a "copper party". None of the products (which were mostly jello molds) fit the decor of our little Cape style house except one. It was a copper rendition of Da Vinci's "Last Supper" and it hung over the Dining Room sideboard. I liked the way it looked, and Mom kept the copper gleaming. There was only one problem...WHY were they all sitting on ONE SIDE OF THE TABLE????

PS. My dear beloved friend and mentor Lil (the Missionary who died in my arms in the helicopter) became my friend because of a skin-care party!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Christ Is Risen. He is Risen Indeed.

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Interesting parallel with my mother. Her last day, she moved from Montana to North Carolina to be near my brother and her only grandkids.

As a shut-in, she didn’t make many new friends in a new state—except for the Avon Lady. She was a good friend. And attended her NC memorial before mom was shipped back to Montana for burial.

Joining in prayer, left that other side, for the Peace of Jerusalem.
