Pope’s New Document Has ‘Very, Very Troubling’ Parts: EWTN Panel

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 16, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The just-released apostolic exhortation on holiness, Gaudete et Exsultate (“Rejoice and Be Glad”), is stirring up controversy and seems to take aim at some of the Pope’s critics in the Church.

EWTN’s Raymond Arroyo and the “papal posse” broke down the “troubling” parts of the document on The World Over on April 12.

“Because of the divisions which have gotten worse under this papacy,” said Faith & Reason Institute President Robert Royal, when Pope Francis “puts out a document like this which is largely good, we can’t read it without suspicions, or ... controversy.”

“There is a serious division now, and it comes to the fore even when he’s trying to deal with a relatively non-controversial subject like holiness,” he added.

“I enjoyed the parts which dealt with the supernatural life,” said Fr. Gerald Murray, a canon lawyer, “but I got to the section where the Pope deals with what he calls ‘neopelagianism’ and I just said to myself, ‘Wait a minute. What’s going on here?’”

“Then there’s another section on ‘neo-gnosticism,’” said Murray, adding, “These are, in my opinion, very serious problems in this document because he seems to be defending the controversial parts of Amoris Laetitia by lashing out at people who don’t agree with him. And I find that very, very troubling.”

Robert Royal is so correct. It is very difficult to now even read the words of Bergoglio without suspicion and controversy. He has scared the beejeebies out of the faithful for so long, we dare not but peek through one eye and our the fingers, in our face palm.

When he is so deadly wrong on the important, the innocuous certainly has no chance, whatsoever.

The faithful do not care what he has to say. We have been forced to move on and resume the faith without him.

I don’t even pay attention to this Pope. Turned me off to the Church. No need for me to get worked up anymore over him.

I always love the papal posse. They always bring me such peace after I learn I’m not crazy after all.

Its been quite a few years since I have known any super devout, faithful, go-to-Mass everyday Catholics. That was a couple popes ago. Im just wondering how the very devout Catholics are viewing this pope.

How can you reconcile that with the fact he is the head of your church with pretty much ultimate authority? It flaming just asking. In our synod any heretical president would be voted out and shown the door rather quickly. But we do not invest the synod president with anywhere near the authority and power that the pope has. Our leaders have to answer to the heirarchy and congregants.

Nor mine.

I liken the present situation to having a bad president. He’s not gonna be there forever, so just keep the faith and pray for a better one next time.

I almost have to wonder if Catholics have brought this papacy on themselves. They say people get the government they deserve. Maybe we have a hierarchy we deserve.

The Church survived the Medicis and the Borgias, she will survive the Bergoglio.

So how many have left the Catholic Church as a result of the current pope being a marxist dumbass with few morals?

Many have made a conscious decision to ignore him. Also, we take the long view, the Church has survived 2000 years with some saintly popes, some mediocre popes and some rather bad popes. Our job is to keep our peace and pray.
