Catholic Church sets out a vision for closer ties with Islam
Cardinal Vincent Nichols planting a sapling at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies
How can dialogue between faiths lead to a deeper spiritual understanding? Is there not always a danger that both sides will talk across each other without listening or just agree on the bare minimum they have in common?
These questions were raised this week by Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the Archbishop of Westminster, when he made the first visit by the head of the Roman Catholic Church in Britain to the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, the dazzling new college that aims to become the country’s principal centre for the academic study of Islam.
The cardinal admitted that he had limited experience of dialogue with Muslim leaders, but said that a meeting between faith leaders, called to show solidarity in the city’s central mosque after the 9/11 attacks in America, had led to lasting personal relationships and communal solidarity.

Why?
If you are a Catholic then you cannot believe Islam is God-inspired since it recognizes Christ’s existence, but denies His divinity. If it is not God-inspired that leaves only one other possibility in a Catholic’s world-view.

Sickening! There are hundreds of “religions” on earth. Many of them have some positive things to say. Islam is the Only one major group is patently Satanic, evil, and seeks to conquer subjugate or murder Christians. It is disgusting for church leaders ( who. After all, must know better!) to kiss up to Muslim powers and potentates Disgusting.

I mean the Vatican is acting pretty messed up - you can kiss up or make friends with lots of different sorts of people. Just not this one group who are taught from birth to hate and want to attack, conquer, subjugate , murder Christians etc
