"Soldiers of Christ, Arise" and "Onward Christian Soldiers" both in the 1982 Hymnal (Episcopal/Anglican). I have the performance edition, which I play with the piano occasionally.

“Onward Christian Soldiers”, and “Battle Hymn of the
Republic” were both sung once a week in grade school on
singing day. Talk about giving officials a case of the vapors today. What I find amazing is not that these songs are prohibited today but, rather, how easy it was to accomplish the ban. We just stood by and watched.

The lyrics of Onward Christian Soldiers and other “similar” type anthems do not tell us to pick up an AR15 and shoot the crap out of the enemy. They refer to the spiritual battles we are fighting on a daily basis. Yes, we are in spiritual warfare. It can’t and shouldn’t be ignored.
