There is also Goliath was from Gath, and not from any place in Moab. Gath is to the West of Bethlehem, Moab is generally to the south west. The Moabites and Philistines are, moreover, two entirely separate peoples.
The Bible is certainly the ultimate source of truth, and we know from Ruth 1:15 that Naomi told Ruth "Behold, thy sister in law [Orpah] is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods." Orpah might have been persuaded to do so, but Ruth was similarly persuaded and refused to turn her back on Naomi or the God of Israel.
That said, the Bible is not the only source of history. There is historical evidence of a political alliance between the Eglon King of Moab and the Philistine king of Gath, and it is believed that Orpah was remarried to one of the giants still living in Moab. It would not be inconsistent with similar biblical themes in which a bad choice results in enmity and strife between successive generations of Israel and its enemies.
Well said and written. Thank you.

I just posted some comments relating to a problem with Oprah’s age when she would have given birth to Goliath.
I find it far more reasonable to assert that some other younger woman with the same or similar name was Goliath’s mother.
