No, someone who is divorced and living a celibate, chaste life is not sinning in doing so. This discussion is solely about those who divorce and then remarry without a Church annulment.

On the contrary! It makes perfect sense to a modern-day Pharisee! However, Jesus assured us that we would be judged using the standards we applied when we judged others, so good luck to these... uh ... judges.

As long as the spouse who was abandoned does not remarry, they may receive Communion.
