Pope Francis: Opponents of Mass Migration Sow ‘Violence, Racial Discrimination and Xenophobia’
Breitbart ^ | 1/1/18 | Thomas D. Williams

Posted on 01/02/2018 6:08:27 PM PST by marshmallow

In his new message for the World Day of Peace, Pope Francis has denounced those who question the wisdom of mass migration, accusing them of demagoguery and promoting xenophobia.

Those who decry “the risks posed to national security or the high cost of welcoming new arrivals,” are guilty of “demeaning the human dignity due to all as sons and daughters of God,” Francis said in the New Year’s message.

To resort to such “rhetoric,” the Pope continued, people “are sowing violence, racial discrimination and xenophobia, which are matters of great concern for all those concerned for the safety of every human being.”

The Catholic Church celebrates the World Day of Peace each year on New Year’s day, when it also commemorates the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. In his annual message for the Day of Peace, the Pope opted once again to underscore the plight of migrants and refugees, as he has on several occasions recently.

Migrants are men and women, children and elderly people, “who are searching for somewhere to live in peace,” Francis said, and in order to find that peace, “they are willing to risk their lives on a journey that is often long and perilous, to endure hardships and suffering, and to encounter fences and walls built to keep them far from their goal.”

“In a spirit of compassion, let us embrace all those fleeing from war and hunger, or forced by discrimination, persecution, poverty and environmental degradation to leave their homelands,” he said.

The Pope also outlined his theory regarding the causes of the mass migration that is affecting Europe and other parts of the world.

Never ceases to amaze how Catholics run from this when it’s published. US doesn’t leave the wiggle room Roman Catholics claim. It is an absolute claim to full authority by the pope.

Never ceases to amaze me when non-Catholics clumsily attempt to explain Catholic doctrine to Catholics.

Have you ever even attempted to read the whole document?

Do you have even the vaguest idea what the historical context was?

For that matter, (and this is a legitimate question, not an attack, btw) is your reading comprehension up to understanding the meaning of "is subject to"?

Thus, it was concluded, the temporal authorities must submit to the spiritual authorities, not merely on matters concerning doctrine and morality: "For with truth as our witness, it belongs to spiritual power to establish the terrestrial power and to pass judgment if it has not been good." The bull ends, "Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff."

If your reading comprehension is up to it, suggest you read Canon 750-753 before you make more of a fool of yourself.

To allow your position would nullify the ability of Roman Catholics to evaluate anything else not Roman Catholic.

Roman Catholicism, like Mormonism, Islam, or any other belief system can be studied and understood without having to be Roman Catholic.

And you question my reading comprehension.

Have you ever even attempted to read the whole document?

Yes.

Do you have even the vaguest idea what the historical context was?

Yes.

However, if you're attempting to argue the Bull was only applicable to one particular situation you're going to have to do some slicing and dicing of the Bull. Either it all applies or none of it applies.

Which part applies universally and which part applies to the particular situation?

For that matter, (and this is a legitimate question, not an attack, btw) is your reading comprehension up to understanding the meaning of "is subject to"?

Boniface made it clear this was a dogma that had to be believed...he was claiming absolute authority over the church and the secular..."we declare", "we proclaim", "we define", "absolutely necessary".

As stated before...Roman Catholics don't like this part of being subject to the pope in all matters as noted in Unam Sanctam to be brought up. They like the part about "no salvation outside of the Church".

The Roman Catholic can't have it both ways.

In your post 35 you're explaining what your understanding of Canon Law is.

However, US doesn't give you that option. It's how the pope defines it within the context of Canon Law.

You don't like what Francis is doing. You're attempting to be your own pope.

Roman Catholics have told all of us non-Catholics for years on these threads you cannot do that.

Is it not a mortal sin, for Roman Catholics, to disobey the pope?

Happy New Year to you and yours as well.

You obviously, based upon the content of your posts on this thread, have zero comprehension of Catholicism nor, based on your posts, do you have any interest in having an intelligent discussion on the subject.

Posts such as yours is the precise reason why I haven't bothered to post extensively on the religion forum for several years.

With that, I'll let you have the last word. I hope you have a blessed new year.

All I did was post from Roman Catholic sources. Your issue is with them...not me.

Not many Roman Catholics like the extreme position of Unam Sanctam. I can understand that. But the Bull is what it is...unless you're willing to say the pope was wrong.
