It is always about Christ and never about any church of any denomination.
Why should I be run out of my own Church? It was the faith I was brought up in. I don’t run because of some creeps; I stay in with the other faithful. I’m lucky, I have a good, old-fashioned parish with a Latin Mass.

Yes, well, we’ve all had bad experiences. If you can find a church that has a Latin Mass, attend it. All that matters are the Sacraments. There will always be bad and evil people in any church you join. Any synagogue, mosque, Hindu temple. People are fallible.
It’s good that you are in the position of not throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
Too many people with bad church experiences turn their backs on God completely, as if church and God were the same thing.
Jesus had very harsh words for those who hurt children and there is great accountability for those in leadership position for the way they lead their lives and how they lead others. They are extra responsible.
The church leadership may have dropped the ball in dealing with the mess, but their comeuppance is coming.
They will have to face the God of the universe some day, the God they claim to represent to others and have misrepresented in the worst of ways.
I’m sure God does not take lightly that kind of image of Himself put forth by men who do such things and the damage done to someone else’s relationship with GOD as a result.
There will be payback and it will be for eternity, no matter what they think they got away with here.
Focus on God and stay in His word and may God heal all of your wounds.

Matthew 23 does a good job of describing Jesus’ attitude to wards formalized religious leaders and all the outward show and pomp.

May I suggest you try the Lutheran Church Missouri synod (not elca that is very important) if you go to a traditional service you will feel very much at home absent prayers to saints and Mary. You will find biblical teaching in a welcoming environment No denomination is perfect but our clergy are married and we have not had any pediphile sex scandals that I am aware of. I hope you find healing and I am glad the acts of evil individuals have not driven you from your relationship with God. Hang in there

The pattern in Scripture starts with the Father & Holy Spirit and ends with the glorification of Christ.
It it ends with a church, it didn’t start with the Father or Holy Spirit.
So you believe that altars are a requirement? Did Jesus preach in a church building or on an altar? Please show me in the Bible where an altar is required for proper worship.

Seriously. How do you honor God by staying at a church that preaches false doctrine?
Does a building or a dead language compensate for false doctrine?
By staying you are ENABLING a false teacher. By tithing you are ENABLING that false teacher to spread the LIES of Satan amidst the flock.
How is any of that serving God?
If you are unable to change your leadership, then the only way to honor God is to leave and find a place that does honor God.
Who do you serve, God or a building? Enabling a servant of Satan to lie to the flock is a sin.

So sorry for all you went through. I was married to a woman for 28 years who was sexually molested & abused as a child so there is a special place in my heart for all you suffered through. False. "On this rock I will build my Church" is the TRUTH that Peter spoke when he declared Jesus as the Christ. That is a far cry from establishment of the catholic church.
You are basing the establishment of the catholic church on one sentence within the Bible. That's pretty thin.

Only in the Catholic Church is there the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist which Jesus did not compromise on as we see in the Gospel of John chapter 6.
