Insulting a saint. Yeah...for some reason I don’t think that is a good plan.

Sprucing up the bathroom will probably help more.

What if you want your wife to do something and she doesn’t...

Have you tried burying her upside down?

You hand her a statue and tell her where to stick it?

My nieces Catholic Church has shelves full of those St. Joseph statues specifically for that purpose. Just got to go into the church office and ask for one. So it’s sanctioned by the Church of Rome.

So to conclude, I think it’s ok to pray to St. Joseph to ask for his intercession (prayer) in the matter of a sale of a house, and as Father said in the article above, to bury a statue is ok too since that’s how they should be disposed of anyway, but one must be careful to not trust in the ritual itself, but rather to trust in God’s Will in the matter. That’s what any faithful Catholic will tell you and/or do anyway.

Don't you think God will answer you Himself if YOU pray to Him?

“The point is refuted.”

No, it isn’t and you have not even attempted a refutation.

“Mormons and other cults make the same argument that not all truth is found in Scripture.”

So because Mormons say something that is true it is false? That’s what you’re saying. Either not all truth is in scripture or all truth is not in scripture. Clearly not all truth is in scripture. The fact that Mormons - or even some cults - get something right doesn’t change the fact that it’s still right. Even you would admit that there’s no table of contents in the scriptures. That means not all truths are in scripture right there. This is what gets me about anti-Catholics. You actually have to deny the truth of a thing just because it is being said by a Catholic rather than just admit that that truth is in fact true. How pathetic!

“However John tells why these things were written....”

Yes, and he also makes it clear that not everything Jesus did is in scripture. Clearly that’s closer to what I’m saying than what you are.

“If in your narcissistic world view that makes you feel better about yourself more power to you.”

It has nothing in itself to do with me. It’s just the truth. Another truth you deny and can’t and won’t even attempt to refute.

“I follow Christ and only Him. I rely upon only Him for my salvation and eternal life. I pray only to Him and not created beings.”

Do you pray to the Father? How about the Holy Spirit? After all you just said you only pray to Christ. The Father and Holy Spirit are not Christ and are not created things. See how easily you contradict yourself?

“I kneel before Him and not created beings.”

And yet you apparently don’t pray to the Father or the Holy Spirit? Make up your mind.

“That makes one a Christian.”

That’s the start, but even Christ said we are to obey His commandments: John 14:15. He told the Apostles to teach everyone His commandments: Matthew 28:20. He said we are His friends IF we obey His commandments: John 15:14. To not see death we must keep His word: John 8:51. Thus, when a Protestant anti-Catholic bleats on only presenting a portion of the gospel, I know I’m just hearing a latter day invention rather than the real thing.

“Question is....do you believe His promise of John 5:24?”

I do as orthodox Christians have understood it, but do you obey His commandments (John 14:15, Matthew 28:20, John 15:14) or keep His word (John 8:51)? Clearly, the answer is NO. You, instead, choose to follow a novel gospel invented in the 16th century.

>>“Mormons and other cults make the same argument that not all truth is found in Scripture.”<<

A table of contents has nothing to do with salvation and I'm surprised...well, no I'm not....that you rely upon such a weak Scott Hahn or Tim Staples apologetic.

However, the issue is and remains is that the New Testament contains the truth that is needed to bring someone to salvation. When you start allowing other "truth", however that is defined, to come into the argument you've departed Christianity.

If you think Mormonism has any truth regarding salvation we need to have another thread to get you on the right path.

No one denies Jesus did other things. Roman Catholics continue to labor under the false belief that is denied. John makes that clear.

No one denies Paul said and did a lot of things not written down.

What is denied is the Roman Catholic understanding of what these other things are.

When you start looking to other sources for "truth" in this matter you start getting topics like what this thread is about...burying created objects in your yard to try and sell your house. Or as one poster noted Saint Muerte. Or that you have to eat fish on Friday. Or that you have to attend certain services during the year or it's a big no-no. Or that you have to do the myriad of other things Rome says you must do.

As John noted...13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:13 NASB

>>“I follow Christ and only Him. I rely upon only Him for my salvation and eternal life. I pray only to Him and not created beings.”<<

Do you pray to the Father? How about the Holy Spirit? After all you just said you only pray to Christ. The Father and Holy Spirit are not Christ and are not created things. See how easily you contradict yourself?

I see the nuance is lost on you but that doesn't surprise me. The point is Christians do not pray to Mary or any other departed believer....or bury idols in their yard to sell a house.

If one is a follower of Christ one does what He says. I thought you'd understand that but I guess not. And that does not include relying upon idols to sell your house or eating fish on Friday.

And I see you've delved into mind reading again...something you've been warned about previously.

It’s a joke. Grow a sense of humor in your backyard. It should take 2 months to develop fully. Water it everyday. Others replied with jokes. Now get 2 really strong men to take the stick out of your butt and you should be set :-)

“A table of contents has nothing to do with salvation...”

Oh, so it’s not all truths are in scripture after all - only things to do with salvation? Your story keeps changing.

“...and I’m surprised...well, no I’m not....that you rely upon such a weak Scott Hahn or Tim Staples apologetic.”

eagleone, if you have such contempt for Tim Staples and Scott Hahn, please offer to debate them. I think then we would see who is really weak. Mind you Scott Hahn won’t even bother. He hasn’t debated since he wiped the floor with Robert M Bowman, Jr. Even the theologically ignorant (that would be your ilk) knew Hahn won by the large number of Protestants who crowded around Hahn afterward to beg to talk to him.

“However, the issue is and remains is that the New Testament contains the truth that is needed to bring someone to salvation.”

Again, so it’s not all truth, it’s just about salvation. Your story has changed. Why?

“When you start allowing other “truth”, however that is defined, to come into the argument you’ve departed Christianity.”

So no table of contents for you, huh? Call it weak all you like there’s no denying it is true.

“If you think Mormonism has any truth regarding salvation we need to have another thread to get you on the right path.”

Oh, look at that. Now you’re claiming “If you think Mormonism has any truth regarding salvation” as your latest straw man. So you’ve gone from all truth is in scripture or at least a denial that not all truth is in scripture to Mormons have truths about salvation because Mormons get something else right. Twisting and turning eagleone has to create his strawmen to avoid the obvious: Not all truths are in scripture.

“No one denies Jesus did other things. Roman Catholics continue to labor under the false belief that is denied. John makes that clear.”

Not all truths are in scripture. That’s what is clear.

“No one denies Paul said and did a lot of things not written down.”

Actually, some here deny exactly that and have done so repeatedly.

“What is denied is the Roman Catholic understanding of what these other things are.”

No, the problem is yours.

“When you start looking to other sources for “truth” in this matter you start getting topics like what this thread is about...burying created objects in your yard to try and sell your house.”

So why do sola scripturists have so many heresies, errors and superstitions? Health and Wealth Gospel, KJV Onlyism, denial of the Trinity, anthropomorphism of the Father, denial of Biblical books, denial of Baptism, Modalism, and hundreds of other things are all common among sola scripturists. Why? Even the way Evangelicals define heresy shows Evangelicals are rife with it:
http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2014/october-web-only/new-poll-finds-evangelicals-favorite-heresies.html
http://www.christianitytoday.com/news/2016/september/evangelicals-favorite-heresies-state-of-theology-ligonier.html

“Or as one poster noted Saint Muerte. Or that you have to eat fish on Friday.”

Have to eat fish on Friday? Uh, no. No one has to eat fish on Friday. You just don’t eat meat on Friday and that is in honor of Christ giving up His flesh on Good Friday.

“Or that you have to attend certain services during the year or it’s a big no-no.”

So there’s no Lord’s Day now in your book?

“Or that you have to do the myriad of other things Rome says you must do.”

Oh, the whining and whinging of the anti-Catholic.

“I see the nuance is lost on you but that doesn’t surprise me.”

So you refuse to answer the questions? Again, do you pray to the Father? How about the Holy Spirit? After all you just said you only pray to Christ. The Father and Holy Spirit are not Christ and are not created things. See how easily you contradict yourself?

“The point is Christians do not pray to Mary or any other departed believer....or bury idols in their yard to sell a house.”

But clearly Christians do pray to Mary and other saints, eagleone. They’ve done it for centuries and centuries and centuries. And many of them were far better Christians than you’ll ever be. Many of the died for Christ and the faith while all you do is attack Christ and the faith while sitting behind a keyboard.

“If one is a follower of Christ one does what He says.”

Then you’re not really a follower of Jesus for you attack His Church.

“I thought you’d understand that but I guess not.”

You though I would understand why you apparently think it is okay to attack Christ and His Church while claiming to be a follower of Jesus? Really?

“And that does not include relying upon idols to sell your house or eating fish on Friday.”

And the point is no one should ever rely on idols and no one has to eat fish on Fridays. But you - true to your constant use of strawmen - will say the opposite. The truth isn’t on your side so you have to make things up apparently.

“And I see you’ve delved into mind reading again...something you’ve been warned about previously.”

That’s an incredible statement since you just said: “And that does not include relying upon idols to sell your house or eating fish on Friday.” As if I have ever relied on an idol to sell a house. Your most reliable habit in posting is hypocrisy.
