In Central New Jersey, there is a sizeable community of Marchegiani, immigrants from the Marche region of Italy, and, up until a few years ago, they held an annual banquet celebrating the life of Saint Maria Goretti. The Saint’s brother, who I believe lived in nearby Pennsylvania, was a regular attendee at these dinners and I recall marveling at the fact that I had met the brother of a real saint.
