I called for Christians to love gay people. Now the Catholic alt-right is taking revenge.

No, Father. Confirming people in a sin that cries out to heaven for vengeance isn’t love. And the most loving thing someone can do for you is defrock & excommunicate you.

Martin is who he is and I don't believe he's the real problem here. I believe the real problem is Martin's Jesuit superiors who have given his book the "thumbs up" and who continue to insist that he is doing a fine job, as well as certain cardinals who have read the book and publicly come out in support of it. IOW, I believe Martin is simply the voice of an organized group of sodomites further up the hierarchy who are using him as a spokesman.

In a sane world, Martin would be silenced and laicized for his antics but he knows that won't happen because the lavender mafia has his back. He's utterly without fear and in our faces every day which means that this goes right up the chain of command.

Fr. Martin’s ideas are all about enabling sinful behavior and playing the victim when the devout resist his sophistry. Love has nothing to do with it.

You remind me of the lyrics to Glen Campbell’s “Try a little kindess.”

If you see your sister falling by the way,
Just stop and say, you’re going the wrong way.

Aside from not being much of a rhyme, that advice today would get your sister telling you to mind your own business.

Loving people means confronting them about their sins, not encouraging them in it.

I have a few people I am close to who are sadly on the wrong path. Once a year, I try to nudge those few close friends and family in the right direction, where I think it is needed. More often would be counterproductive. Less often would be unloving. So far, no success with some and some success with others. A few times, they have been the ones nudging me in the right direction. I appreciate it that my friends and family are willing to show love the hard way and not just with mindless applause for whatever choices and actions they see from me.

zero legitimacy in the Church

so who gets to determine 'legitimacy in the church' these days?

The failure of the Vatican to purge these pervert priests shows they are in approval of their message.

“Catholic Alt-Right” - the demonization of the good is accelerating.

Thanks all for the terrific dead-on responses on this thread. If that Straw-Man Martin ever calls out FR as part of the “Catholic Alt-Right”, apparently I’m all in.

I like Da Coyote's term for the homo-enablers: "Low-T Lefties".

It is not about not “loving” “gay” people.

Yeshua commanded us to love our neighbor as ourselves and even to love or enemies. So the issue with many devout Christians is not about either love or hate in considering “gay” persons themselves.

While Yeshua commands we love our neighbor, He also commands that we NOT love sin and that we rebuke sin; even as He acknowledged we have all sinned and we all sin.

The argument is then NOT about Love, it is about how is Love exercised.

To the devout Christian it would not be “loving” the “gay” person to either honor or accept the sexual lifestyle of the “gay” person.

Christianity is not about “hating” a person, it is about hating sin. It is hating the act committed not the person who has committed it.

The social problem is that the Left is not part of working for or honoring a truly diverse society where our greatest recognition of Liberty is the right to disagree. They MUST portray devout Christian positions as regards “gay” persons as “hate” because they have no answer for the kind of Christian Love that is behind those devout Christian positions.

"Well, no -- you didn't call for Christians to love gay people. You called for Christians to pretend that gay people are normal."

You are absolutely correct.....

The Catholic Church long ago let Satan into the tent, in order to get butts into the pulpits. He is now embedded to the very top of the organization, so getting rid of him means radical surgery. Good luck with that.

So, only those labeled as in authority over the unwashed dare speak of God?

Every one claims to believe Gods word, but we see more liars with almost every thread on this web site.
