It may help to spread Christianity, i am not sure about the Chinese but most kids tends to be curious about something they are forbidden to do.
And it sure did not stop Christianity from spreading when they were throwing the Christians to the lions and hanging them on the cross.
But it could be that the spirit of God is leaving and there will be no more conversions and the remainder is bound for hell.
