Below is a Spanish to English translation of the Vatican's website:
https://w2.vatican.va/content/francesco/es/letters/2016/documents/papa-francesco_20160905_regione-pastorale-buenos-aires.html
You’re linking to Spanish version. Where’s English?
Here’s the correct link for the English translation:
He jumped the shark quite some time ago.
Self-censored.
The manchurian pope.
destroying the cathloic church from within.
There is NOTHING I enjoy ignoring more than posts about pope francis.
Exactly!
Notice that the Vatican is only posting the website in Bergoglio’s native tongue.
Just a trial balloon, until they decide to either post in other major languages or to remove it completely.
I remember the good old days when “Is the pope Catholic?” was an obvious rhetorical question.
Please help me understand:
Is this condoning
1: Consensual sex between unmarried people,
2: Sex outside what Protestants would generally call marriage, i.e. before marriage or after divorce,
3: Sex with a 3d party, outside an intact Catholic marriage, using the Protestant view of marriage here, i.e. married and not divorced,
4: Sex with 3d parties, involving Catholics who are civilly divorced.
Help this Presbyterian understand, please.
Thank you.
It condones #2 and #3, which overlap with regards to divorce.
But the interim report (approved by Pope Francis) of Amoris Laetitiae winked at both pre-marital sex and homosexual sex, but those sins did not make the final cut in the final exhortation.
It is simple enough. This is all about assuring that a re-married couple who sincerely wish to return to (or join) the church is not "anathemized" by the congregation. With proper counseling, such couples are to be welcomed into all Church activities EXCEPT reception of the Eucharist. They may receive the Eucharist ONLY if they do not engage in "conjugal relations" and live "as brother and sister".
Nothing fundamental about the church is changed.
B.S. "Not engaging in conjugal relations" is now out the window in Francis' new "mercy church".
Thank you both very much.
Sex in any of these examples preclude reception of Holy Communion.
Outside of the valid marriage, sex with any other is always a mortal sin. No one may receive in a state of mortal sin.
As for the Catholic who is legally divorced, he or she may receive Holy Communion.
However, the divorced Catholic must beg an Annulment from the Church to marry again.
Without Annulment by the Church the marital act of a second marriage would be adulterous and would preclude receiving Holy Communion. Unless, they agreed to live as brother and sister, chaste.
( A Catholic divorced person without Annulment could not marry again inside the Catholic Church, but must obtain a civil marriage outside the Church.)
Is there a translation of the “application of chapter 8” document from the Argentine bishops, the one that he says is the only correct interpretation?
Yes. It’s on the same website, same link, just below Francis’ approval of it.
I was referring to the link in post #3.
A divorced Catholic without an Annulment longs for Eucharist in their second civil marriage. It has nothing officially to do with the mood of the Church folks.
Catholic marriage is a Sacrament. Like Baptism. It can not be done twice. God has in both cases has come down upon us, in
our consent, done His work and joined His children together in Him, by way of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
Improper or illicit conditions are miniscule, approximately only three, (example: entering into marriage against one’s will, by force, or impairment.) An Annulment nullifies the marriage. It was not sacramental under this or that *unholy* condition, when it occurred.
...Catholic marriage is a Sacrament. Like Baptism. It can not be done twice.
....Except if ones passes away...Marriage ends if one spouse dies. So it isn’t exactly a one time only sacrament.
