Yes, the world has turned upside down, where thirty some years ago the same places were occupied by John Paul II and Yuri Andropov or Leonid Brezhnev.

This Pope was picked simply because he would push PC agenda, and look the other way on all of the Vatican’s corruption.

Putin knows well how to play the game. People getting carried away talking about him like he’s some sort of reborn Christian prophet.

He’s not. Putin is a tyrant.

Indeed, should we have given Stalin a standing ovation when he criticized the Axis powers? What if Lena Dunham said these things - would she get a cheery two thumbs up? I'd hope not.

Of course, nobody knows what's in a man's heart. Maybe Putin is being sincere here.

Personally, he strikes me as the snake in Eden. This isn't even a case of a stopped clock being right twice a day. This is Putin playing to conservatives to create a wedge. Not buying his sincerity AT ALL.

>>Its clear to me the US Government may well be the most dangerous threat to world stability on the threat board. There came a time in Germany when they realized they were the problem. Trumps election was our country’s admission of that realization for us. Look at what is ensuing. We’ll be lucky to live through this.

A sobering, true realization.

Putin has done more for Orthodox Christianity (excepting Roman Catholicism), than has any leader for hundreds of years.

As background, when Rome fell to the barbarians, the “seat of Christendom” moved to Constantinople, that had existed in tandem with Rome as the Eastern Roman Empire. Then when Constantinople fell to the Ottomans in 1453, the Russians assumed that the seat would become Moscow, by then the largest and most powerful Christian city-state. But because eastern Christianity had split with Roman Catholicism in 1054, instead it moved back to Rome.

And the Russians have stewed about this ever since.

For all his faults, Putin realized this slight still burned after all this time. So he did one of the most brilliant things a Christian leader could do: he called a conclave of all the Orthodox churches in Moscow.

But not Rome. Many of these churches had not spoken in hundreds of years, and were awed by the splendor of their Russian Orthodox hosts.

This alone, despite anything and everything else he has done, qualifies Putin as an “Orthodox Saint”, and is close to ordaining him as a “Christian Emperor”, putting him in the class of Justinian I or Charlemagne.

It also gives him tremendous moral authority in things Christian. He can criticize the Roman Pope, because he has about the same rank. And if he is indeed a Christian Emperor, he would actually *outrank* the Roman Pope.

As far as the political, or even tyrannical things he does, that is just par for the course in Russia. And he should note that while the secular stuff he does has mixed results, his efforts in support of Christianity are home runs.

“The Catholic faith is one that worships Mary the mother of Jesus as a god.

I heard this first from a Catholic.

Mr. Putin saw with his very own eyes the damage communism/socialism has done to Russia.

The looking glass since the era and dark age of Obama is bizarre.

Putin is completely correct and this fake Pontiff is an anti-Pope.

Thanks. I gave it to him. He’ll likely call you, if he hasn’t already.

In terms of Putin, I think it’s a mixed bag. He certainly retains some tyrannical tendencies, habits. But I think his respect for, if not agreement with core Christian beliefs may be genuine.

Putin's right and who better to know, given his and his nation's experience with it?

The disastrous abomination of desolation malware appears to reside within Francis' most sacred place, and he resides as Pope of the Church. Not good.

The last paragraph is very telling. FRpers,do not be surprised if President Trump said the SAME THING TO POPE FRANCIS in private when both of them met up in private about climate change and other issues. In other words, your holiness,MYOB!

I understand all that. But Putin is right about this Pope and it is good that he said it.
