The Catholic faith is one that worships Mary the mother of Jesus as a god.I heard this first from a Catholic.

Hi, aimhigh. Your friend must have been in one of the various robust sub-denominations made up of poorly-catechized Catholics, viz: quasi-Catholics, ex-Catholics, and anti-Catholics.

The Catholic church has regually suppressed Mary worship. It’s hard to stamp out because people like their goddess cults. And on the whole people getting a little too crazy about Mary seems a minor problem compared to protestant churches accepting divorced, homos, and anti-patriarchal people in their midst. What’s the bible verse about complaining about the spec in the eye of your brother while you have a log in your own eye?

Is it the teaching of the Catholic Church to worship Mary as if she were God? No.
Do a lot of older and ill-informed Catholics tend to do things that amount to worship as a practical matter? Yes.
Has the Church looked the other way or tolerated this error for too many years? Yes.

I apologize for calling you a liar in post #105. I should have said something like Mrs. Don-o did in post #106, which makes more sense, as a practicing Catholic would never have told you that. In any case, I’m sorry.
