Why no Christian should attend a "gay wedding"

July 31, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — This article is intended for anyone contemplating buckling under to the pressure of the radical homosexual agenda by either participating as a vendor (e.g. wedding cake baker, florist, photographer) or as an attendee at a same-sex "marriage" ceremony. From the vantage point of Holy Scripture, this is a no brainer. Multiple books in both the Old and New Testaments condemn homosexual behavior as gravely sinful.

Even more to the point, the Bible is very clear that true marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman. This begins with Genesis in which man and woman are together created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27). The Old Testament goes on to liken the relationship between God and Israel to the relationship between a husband and wife (Isaiah 62:5). And the New Testament analogizes the relationship between Christ and His Church to the relationship between a husband and wife (2 Corinthians 11:2).

Our Lord began his public ministry by performing a miracle at the wedding feast of Cana (John 2:1-12). And He was clear in affirming that marriage is the union of a man and a woman (Ephesians 5:31). Since homosexuality is considered a grave sin and marriage a sacred union, the concept of same-sex marriage is a sacrilege. It seeks to profane that which is holy. When a same-sex couple stands before someone acting in an official capacity and repeats words that mimic marriage vows, they are, in a very real sense, openly defying God. Their alleged public profession of their "marital" relationship is the equivalent of their publicly shaking their fist at God. And, all those present are, in effect, cheering them on in their act of sacrilege.

Based on the foregoing, all authentic Christians are called to stand up for the Truth of marriage. In doing so, they will be standing up for our Lord who is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). Our Lord has promised that He will acknowledge before His Father those who stand up for Him, but not acknowledge those that deny Him (Matthew 10:32). Those that neither know or love our Lord will not understand this message because they are in darkness. Those that know and love our Lord will understand and heed this message because they are in the light. The darkness will not overcome the light (John 1:5).

One can call themselves a supporter of same-sex "marriage. And one can call themselves a Christian. But one cannot honestly call themselves both. This issue has caused, and will continue to cause, much conflict and consternation in our society. This is exactly what our Lord was talking about when He said that He came to bring not peace but division (Luke 12:51). The lines have never been more clearly drawn. There is no middle ground. The only question for anyone who calls themselves a "Christian" is on which side of the divide they will rise or fall.

Those who know me know my Biblical stance on such issues. However, I can imagine a situation where I’d choose to attend and maintain a viable relationship connection in the hope that some of my Biblical perspective might be eventually heard.

My housemate says that even among the long term committed gay relationships, less than 1/10th of 1% of them demonstrate high quality caring vs co-dependency and worse. How would church-going heterosexuals compare? 3-12%?

Why were so many major characters in the Bible polygamists?

Indeed. Neither attend nor wish them well nor even neutrally acknowledge their celebrations in any way or fashion.

Are you going to deny the joy of your friends and family whom you love? We’re better than that. I’m sure you will all agree.

Holy matrimony (from the Latin mater).

So how many 'mothers' give their vows in any given 'gay' 'marriage'?

Christian or not. It’s unnatural. It cannot naturally produce offspring and if there are children involved it is just wrong.

Polygamy, though far from ideal, is at least (absent other concerns) not a denial of the nature of marraige as between man and woman.

I can love the sinner and hate the sin.

By going to the same sex weddings I’ve attended was out of love for the participants and respect for their parents.

You are free to do what you wish. I don’t have enough hate in my heart to do that to people I love.

Glad for the article. I got tired of hearing so called conservatives like Glenn Beck talking about their wonderful gay friend’s weddings.

Celebrate in their sin? Nope. Can still love them, but wouldn’t attend ~ any more than I would drive someone to get an abortion ...

You’re saying that declining to attend a same sex wedding means you have hate in your heart, and you can’t do that to the parents involved??? Care to rephrase? Is that really what you mean to say, that one is full of hate to not attend???

It’s not hateful to not attend if it goes against one’s conscience. We’re to tolerate others, but others refuse to tolerate us, just label as “haters”.

Not even the slightest chance. If I even knew anyone thinking of gay hitchin’—which I don’t—they’d presumably know me enough to not even extend an invite.
