“I see said the blind man when he stepped in a pile of cowshit.” was a common expression of my father as I was growing up. Much wisdom in that, that I see in my later years.

Related to this is what I just read in Job:

Job 42:5 I had only heard about You before, but now I have seen You with my own eyes.
Job 42:6 I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

A small discussion with God will open one’s eyes.
