“Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine, There’s always laughter and good red wine. At least I’ve always found it so. Benedicamus Domino!”

Belloc and Chesterton get far less recognition than they deserve. Thanks for posting!

I’ve always loved Belloc’s writings. As I’m back in Abu Dhabi for a few weeks again on a work assignment, this article makes for interesting reading.

Belloc saw Islam as less a new religion than a heresy that selected among Christian doctrines.

True. Mohammed read both the OT and the NT. He decided the tenets of his own religion off of both Judaism and Catholicism adding his own moon god twist.

So, yeah, the muslin religion is a fabricated heresy.

“Belloc and Chesterton get far less recognition than they deserve.” To Belloc’s prose was matched Chesterton’s poetry, in The Flying Inn https://archive.org/details/flyingin00chesuoft about social rebels in a Sharia England who take to the back country with a wagon, a giant round of Chedder cheese and the last cask of rum in England, to set up a suddenly appearing & disappearing pub.

I have little doubt that Islam is the Beast religion of Revelation.

There was a period back in the 80s when I read several of Belloc's books, and he seemed very prescient about many things, including the possibility of a resurgence of Islam.

Within the church, he has almost entirely fallen out of favor, and is little-read these days. Belloc's traditionalism and orthodoxy are now very much the exception.

Your next assignment:

Go read G.K. Chesterton's The Flying Inn.

But Ivywood, Lord Ivywood,
he rots the tree like ivy would...

Bah, you beat me to it!

Spoiler: In The Flying Inn he cannot be prosecuted for selling alcohol because he gives it away for free...

"The secular West's own freedoms and God-given rights are deadlocked in the wreckage of beliefs it has discarded." Look like we might get what we wanted: good and hard.

Lord have mercy.

What a healthy immune system does, is recognize what is “me” and attack anything which damages “me”. AIDS cripples the immune system’s ability to attack damaging foreign organisms. The host ultimately dies, not from what AIDS does directly, but from all the invading diseases which the immune system no longer is able to fight off.

Multiculturalism, which demands us to be timid about being proud of Western Civilization, which declares it evil to preferentially desire the welfare of our own people, is the societal analogue of AIDS.
