Is it you, by sheer will-power that makes it possible to not be conformed to this world?

Live fish swim upstream, dead fish float downstream.

Here's the entire Matthew quote.

Matthew 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Jesus is the only one who has fulfilled all the requirements of the law, so He is the only one who inherits all of it's promises. However, anyone can partake of the blessings that Jesus inherited, by being grafted into Him, but only by belief. Not by works. That is why:

Romans 10:4
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Romans 3:31
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Amen, like I said long ago on this very thread.

God's law has only one purpose, to show you how much of a wicked, evil person you truly are and why you need Jesus Christ to save you.

But law keeping will never, ever justify you in the eyes of God and that was not His intention. He gave us His law to show us beyond any shadow of a doubt that we are not worthy of His grace and mercy because His law is our mirror. Whenever you and I look into that mirror, we see how evil and wicked we truly are.

I know you want credit because you think you're a great keeper of the law, but God will never allow you into heaven by-passing His saving grace through Jesus Christ and He will never share His glory with you.

Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Having begun in the Spirit are you now made perfect by your law-keeping? Are you now made perfect by your good deeds? No, you're not! If I were you wouldn't I would be very careful and not fall for that Satanic lie.

Galatians 3:2-3
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

I understand, Ellen G. White interprets the Bible for you. I’m sorry that you will likely have the same fate as she . . .. but it is entirely your free choice.

>>>What does it profit to say you have faith but does not have works?<<<

James is about practical faith living. It says if you proclaim yourself a Christian and have nothing to show for it - how is your hearer going to believe you at all. That is the reason that your faith is dead - either it is non-existent or it is barren of fruit. By their fruits we shall know them.

lol, and the quickest way to turn a live fish into a dead fish, is just allowing it to be a fish. The fish following its own self-will, will jump right into the waiting paws of Mr grizzly bear.

Well you have a bunch of disjointed texts out of context. Let's take them one at a time to try for clarity, shall we?

Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." The law is NOT destroyed. He came to fulfill it. We are to fulfill it to our ability and then (Heb. 10:16) "I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them". He is to help us fulfill it. Otherwise you are proposing God is going to let a bunch of sinners into Heaven who will NOT obey His Law.

No contradictions there. Works alone don't cut it. (lest any man boast)

Again I agree. Also see Heb. 10:16

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

This was an end to an era of many things. The Mosaic law was a pride of nationalism. It differentiated them from other countries. It devolved into a means of salvation. The priests were hypocrites in yoking the people to chores that meant nothing in terms of morality. The idea that works could provide salvation was brought to an end. The stranglehold of the priests was not broken.

Hey man it just takes faith and that is what i have enough of, i have enough faith for at least a dozen people, so if you see me raising hell with my neighbors an digging my fishing worms out of their lawn pay no attention as i am saved by my great faith.

By the way if you are stranded along side the road maybe you better not expect me to pick you up, or give you a drink of water, let one of those suckers who believe in the stupid idea that faith brings works help you.

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Why would I ever expect a self-willed run riot person to pick me up if stranded or give me a drink of water if thirsty?

I'd just let you pass by on to your next "hell raising" escapade and wait for the person who's willing to let God do the work through him to pick me up if stranded or give me a drink of water if thirsty.

Good, then you realize that we are saved by Gods Grace and we can not boast of our faith any more than we can our works.
