I also am a ‘non-practicing’ Catholic and I seem to recall from my childhood the fact that birth control was outlawed as the ONLY reason one should be ejaculating was for attempted reproduction.
Celibacy was a ‘must’ for Priests and Nuns.
Some ‘strayed’ but you ‘always’ had Priests transferring in and out and as a lad, I wasn’t privy to the ‘adult stuff’ you always heard whispers about Father so & so with a ladies name being mentioned, or - as any good practicing Irish type, maybe the Good Father liked a taste a little bit to much for the hierarchy...
Then along came the lid being blown off with the molestation ‘problem’ which REALLY got to me as when I was growing up Nuns and Priests were considered ‘sitting at Gods right hand’ and could do no wrong, so in a respect, it was kind of easy to see how a young lad could get caught up in a ‘situation’.
Now this move by Pelosi isn’t really surprising because these so call CINOs have been receiving the Sacraments while openly backing stands the Church has been (supposedly) against for years.
Of course these CINOs are given a lot of ‘free ammunition’ by a Pope that seemingly is going against the flow
You are always a Catholic if you are a baptized Catholic. You’re just an inactive one that can come back at any time by sitting down with a priest and getting your questions answered.
And remember, that a bad pope does not the Catholic church make.
