Vladimir Putin: It’s My “Duty” To Stop Gay Marriage

In an interview with Oliver Stone, Putin declared "God has decided."

Vladimir Putin claims it’s his “duty” to stop gay people from getting married.

In an interview with Oliver Stone airing on Showtime this week, the Russian president explained that, as head of state, he was obligated “to uphold traditional values and family values.”

His reasoning? “Because same-sex marriages will not produce any children. God has decided, and we have to care about birth rates in our country. We have to reinforce families.”

“But,” he added, “that doesn’t mean that there should be any persecutions against anyone.”

Repression of Russia’s LGBT community is well-documented, but Putin has continually denied queer people face persecution. Talking with Stone, he claimed Russia is “liberal-minded to a great extent,” and insisted gay Russians are under no particular threat.

-——Gay couples can make good parents. Many of these relationships are more stable than many straights-——

I believe that is the exception rather than the rule...

I think science studies are not in your favor...

At least the real ones...

As a rule, children should not be adopted into households of sexual deviates. I’m not speaking of gays only, of course, but anyone acting out an abnormal psychosexual development.

It’s not because there aren’t gay couples with good “parenting skills.”. It’s because a child has a natural right to a mother and a father able to model a good male-female bond.

I find it extremely ironic that the most outspoken defender of Christianity in the world today is not the Impopester, but a former Soviet KGB officer.

Solzhenitsyn thought Putin OK in the context of Russia’s tragic modern history and politics.

Tell me how Gay couples can be good parents when their life expectancy is around 47 years?

It is truly a culture of death. IMHO, one should not be promoting such a deadly short “life style” — especially to children whom we hope to lead long healthy lives.

‘Vladimir Putin claims it’s his “duty” to stop gay people from getting married.’

Technically speaking, I don’t think that has ever happened. A person who deals with same gender attraction has never been legally prevented from marrying a person of his or her opposite gender. It’s more honest to say that Putin opposes the legal redefinition of marriage into a “gender-neutral” institution.

>I would far rather see kids raised by a single *celibate* gay adoptive parent

I think you’re saying this out of the kindness of your heart, but you should really do some googling on the amount of sexual abuse that goes on when a gay parrent adopts.

You might be interested in long, well-written piece in the New Yorker about the Chechen leader and Putin’s relationship with him. “Putins Dragon.”

The more I see, read, and hear about Putin, the more I admire him as a political genius.

Free Republic’s Anti-Putinistas will say anything Putin states is a lie or wrong. They won’t care that it means they are defending gay marriage.

“They don’t have the problem completely under control, but by working with the Russian Orthodox Church Putin has made a good start at putting his nation on a pro-life, pro-natalist course.”

The Russian Constitution does not provide a weak Executive, nor does it provide a strong Judiciary.

Putin and the State Duma could abolish abortion is Russia, but they have not.

I rather doubt there are any statistics on the very small population of gay celibates in general, let alone the surely miniscule subset of gay celibates who adopt.

Besides, I do have an example in mind: William Alexander Percy, who adopted his nephew (later novelist) Walker Percy and his two brothers, after the separate apparent suicides of the boys’ father and mother.

“Uncle Will” evidently did a wonderful job raising the Percy boys. He did not expose them in the slightest degree to his sexual disorder, which actually came to attention only with the posthumous discovery of some of his poetry, as I understand it.

“Uncle Will” was celibate and lived his life in an honorable manner. His nephew, Walker, respected him deeply and expressed his appreciation of him in his memoirs.

I’ll have to look it up later when I have time, but as I recall, the Russian Duma has to some degree restricted, but not banned abortion. Bills to abolish it continue to be introduced, but have not yet achieved a majority vote.

The number of abortions in both Russia and the USA has declined in the last few years.

I’d like to make this a matter of wholesome competition!

According to this article.

"After China, Russia has the highest abortion rate in the world: in 2015, there were 930,000 abortions performed in the country — and that’s just the official figure, excluding abortions performed outside the medical system. The total number of annual abortions could be twice as high, experts say."

Unfortunately for those trapped in the bondage of the great deception, homosexuality is the disordered antithesis of stability and freedom.

After reading through this thread I must admit there’s a little part of me that wishes I were Russian living in Russia right now. A much larger part wishes America was more like it was 50 years ago without the big divisions between blacks and whites.

Things were better when gays kept their lifestyle to themselves rather than force it on society in every way possible including every new TV show. Their sexual lifestyle is not my business and it’s not the way nature or God intended it. It’s an aberration but when they kept to themselves about it; things were better. I guess there’s no going back but I do wish there were.
