Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Isaiah
Isaiah 52
52 Awake, awake, Zion,
clothe yourself with strength!
Put on your garments of splendor,
Jerusalem, the holy city.
The uncircumcised and defiled
will not enter you again.
2 Shake off your dust;
rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
Daughter Zion, now a captive.
3 For this is what the Lord says:
You were sold for nothing,
and without money you will be redeemed.
4 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
At first my people went down to Egypt to live;
lately, Assyria has oppressed them.
5 And now what do I have here? declares the Lord.
For my people have been taken away for nothing,
and those who rule them mock,[a]
declares the Lord.
And all day long
my name is constantly blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people will know my name;
therefore in that day they will know
that it is I who foretold it.
Yes, it is I.
7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
Your God reigns!
8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.
9 Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The Lord will lay bare his holy arm
in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God.
11 Depart, depart, go out from there!
Touch no unclean thing!
Come out from it and be pure,
you who carry the articles of the Lords house.
12 But you will not leave in haste
or go in flight;
for the Lord will go before you,
the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
The Suffering and Glory of the Servant
13 See, my servant will act wisely[b];
he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.
14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him[c]
his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being
and his form marred beyond human likeness
15 so he will sprinkle many nations,[d]
and kings will shut their mouths because of him.
For what they were not told, they will see,
and what they have not heard, they will understand.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name over all the Earth!
How Wonderful You Are;
How Magnificent,
and How Glorious!
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name,
And from Generation to Generation,
Shall all People Call You Great and Wonderful!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!
The Heavens Declare your Glory,
And With Every New Bit Of Knowledge We Gain Of Nature and the Firmament,
We Are Overwhelmed By The Awesomeness of You.
For You Created it All,
Your Imagination is Boundless,
Endless, Eternal, Limitless.
How can anyone presume to know Your Ways or to Speak For You?
And Yet, Abba Father,
You have given us Permission to Call You "Father",
To Pray to You,
To Bare Our Souls To You,
and To Cry Out To You in Our Distress!
You Chasten Your Children because we need it to grow and learn and become better people.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
When I was a child, I wondered why Good Friday was called "good". It did not make sense to me. How could there be anything "good" in the awful event memorialized by that day? It was similar to my Jewish friend's celebration of Passover, which spoke of slavery, plagues, the death of an innocent lamb, and the slaying of the first-born of the Egyptians, which seemed (to a child!) a very gruesome price to pay for Freedom. (I always tended to overthink EVERYTHING when I was a kid!)
Since Chapter Numbers and Headings are not part of the original Scriptures, but added later for ease of study, we see that Isaiah's Beautiful Song about the bringer of Good News flows seamlessly into the tragic and harsh Isaiah 53. How can this be?
As with the Passover, and Good Friday, the chapter speaks of the innocent carrying the burden of sin as a Substitute. The entire Sacrificial System in the Torah is based upon this principle: Without the shedding of Blood, there is no atonement for sin. But, as Abraham said to Isaac on the way up the Mountain, "God will provide the Lamb, my son."
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
God Bless America!

Father God, we lift the missionaries, especially those in nations hostile to Christianity, as they share the Good News.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!
|
|
WAKE awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and |
sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. 3 For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.
4 For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.
7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
8 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.
9 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
11 Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.
12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your reward.
13 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.
14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

Since the Hebrew word for “Nations” can also mean “Gentiles”, I see this (at least on the surface) as The God of Israel extending his Grace and mercy beyond Israel to the gentile nations.
There are other hints in Isaiah (Calling the Messiah “A Light To The Nations” etc), that seem to agree with this.
