Christ is our King, He's the head of the Church and the only Mediator between God and man. With the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the rigid ceremonies of the Mosaic law have been done away with. And today, with the completion of the cannon of Scripture, any oral traditions or customs handed down through the ages should never be given equal authority. In other words, if a person says, "You must do this or you must do that in order to please God" and that thing is NOT in God's preserved word, that's "legalism."

Matthew 23:27-28
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

The first calling of every Christian is to an inside job, to get cleansed from the filth, lusts, and corrupt affections that lurk within the human soul. Legalism only makes the outside look good, but it's completely useless for pleasing God and if the renewing, sanctifying grace of Christ has cleansed you on the inside, then the outside will naturally follow. There are those who go to church and receive accolades from their fellow church members, but unless our Master says, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," its all for not.

Psalms 37:3
Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

2 Thessalonians 3:13
But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

Trusting in the righteousness of Jesus is a very precious thing. Even though it's easy to become weary in our trust, we shouldn't fret when we fail completely. God knows how weak we are, He knows our limitations and our situation. He knows there's nothing we can do to make up for our failures and many times we want to quit on God, because we fail to live up to our own self-imposed, man-made rules. That's why it's very important to not get weary in "well-doing," and we do well when we continue trusting in God's righteousness and put no confidence in self.

Philippians 3:3
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Romans 8:8
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Any robot can follow the law without soul and without belief in Christ. The law is like a military command, a sort of entitled direction given by a master for an unthinking and uncaring slave.

Christ is a friend Who explains the reason for the commands and all things, and the spirit and faith make us alive

Amen, and I find it odd that many who say “We please God because we keep the Torah” think that their partial keeping of the law, is more important to God, then Christ’s perfect keeping of the law. I’ll put my trust in Christ and what He has done and not in what I think I can do.

Yep, .... pretty basic concept here, ..... the LAW shows us
the need. There’s only one man that kept the LAW , and they
nailed HIM to a TREE/CROSS.

"Amen, and I find it odd that many who say “We please God because we keep the Torah” think that their partial keeping of the law, is more important to God,"

"I desire mercy not sacrifice."
