Acts 7:38
This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
Although Israel was brought out of Egypt, she was not allowed to enter into the promise land. God's law came to the world through Israel, but keeping the law didn't enable them to enter "a land flowing with milk and honey." Today, there are many fine, upstanding moral people who go to church and call themselves "Christians," but they're not going to be allowed into heaven. Anyone can go to church, but if they don't truly believe in the sacrificial, substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross for their sins, then they're not part of God's "called-out" assembly in Christ.
Romans 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
This is the whole of the gospel, it's summed up quite nicely in the above two verses from Romans. The promise of eternal salvation if you believe, not "Well, I used to believe when I was younger, not so much anymore but I'm cool with God." or "My wife believes it, and I go to church with her sometimes, so it's all good." The Bible's clear, it proclaims many times over that no amount of law keeping, no amount of morality, no amount of works or good intentions are sufficient to get you into heaven. The only hope anyone has, Jew or gentile, is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and the work that He has done on your behalf.
Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Isaiah 55:6
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Look and live
I've a message from the Lord, hallelujah!
This message unto you I"ll give,
'Tis recorded in His word, halleujah!
It is only that you "look and live."
"Look and live," my brother, live,"
Look to Jesus now, and live;
'Tis recorded in His word, hallelujah!
It is only that you "look and live."
I've a message full of love, hallelujah!
A message, O my friend, for you,
'Tis a message from above, hallelujah!
Jesus said it, and I know 'tis true.
Life is offered unto you, hallelujah!
Eternal life thy soul shall have,
If you'll only look to Him, hallelujah!
Look to Jesus who alone can save.
I will tell you how I came, hallelujah!
To Jesus when He made me whole-
'Twas believing on His name, hallelujah!
I trusted and He saved my soul.
William A. Ogden, 1887
I don’t understand. Sorry, I should probably just ignore this thread, but it’s title caught my attention. I understand that we shouldn’t make bad choices, and that we make choices in every moment of our existence. Is there more to it than that?
Just don’t make a bad choice on the most important decision you can ever make. What to do with Jesus. That is all.
Thank you.
There are some who criticize the KJV. I’ve heard all kinds of slander of it. When I examined who the critics were, I said to myself, I’m not listening to them.
So? I still use and prefer it.
But you have an incomplete and “changed word” Bible!
If the title caught your attention it could be a knock on your door. consider this scripture:
Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him and sup with him and he with me.
God calls us in many ways, it is our choice to answer, to seek, to find, to open the door. He calls, we choose.
I have the KJV. Its a well-adorned version.
That touched me in a very good way. Thank you.
You are more than welcome be-baw.
Learning to know Jesus is a wonderful journey.
I know what I have. And will keep it.
Thanks.
