This article has special significance for me. I was able to pray in Jesus name last Tuesday, Jan. 25th, at the City Council meeting in Lancaster. This is a priviledge that should not be taken lightly.
In the last few decades, we have seen a calculated attempt to remove God from government. Ironically, many of the men and women who died for our freedoms did not die for what we are becoming today. Many gave their lives in order that we would be one nation under God, not above God. A Fifth Division graveyard sign in Iwo Jima, Japan, states it well: When you go home, tell them for us and say, For your tomorrows we gave our today. What a travesty when we fail to honor those who gave their lives for the freedoms we now enjoy; one of those freedoms is to pray in Jesus name.
Apparently, the ACLU is requesting that City Councils across our nation stop praying in the name of Jesus because it offends people. Granted, some may be offended by Americas Christian heritage, but that does not give them the right to remove God from Americas history.

I WANT some lib atheist to try and stop me!
Philippians 2 Amplified Bible
9 For this reason also [because He obeyed and so completely humbled Himself], God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus [b]every knee shall bow [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (sovereign God), to the glory of God the Father.

I never went along with the request to leave Jesus out of a prayer when asked/allowed to do so during official proceedings - had many opportunities as a Senior NCO and Civilian supervisor. Would just precede using His name with, “And for those who believe in Jesus, I’ll close with this....others are just as free to pray what they prefer.”
I like your solution—I’ve done similar.
I told them no...you asked for a blessing and that's my reply.
Told them they could edit as they saw fit, but that was my reply.
There is no other Name to pray in if we want to be heard.
STOP using “In Your Name”, Amen
I can NOT say “Amen” to anything prayed “In Your Name”.
WHOSE name are they actually praying to. Satan? I have no way of knowing!
WHY do so? Why not just use His name?
Afraid/Embarrassed to invoke the name of JESUS?
I don’t think that most people using the substitute “In Your Name” are praying to Satan. They are just misunderstanding the admonition by Jesus.
“Prayer in Jesus name is taught in John 14:13-14, And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
What is His name? “YOUR”? Are you bringing glory to the Father by substituting “Your” for the name of “Jesus Christ”?
Small thing? I don’t think so!
Small example?
On the popular TV show “Gold Rush” (seen by MILLIONS), one of the mining groups (the original group) are Christians. Their mining company is named “3:16 Mining” They regularly say a group prayer, I think on every episode.
You would think that with all this Christian display that they would end their prayer with “In Jesus name”.
They DON”T! They use the euphemism “In Your Name”.
I would bet a million dollars that this is a capitulation to the show producers. Ooooooouuuu, you can’t say “JESUS” on TV!!!! The prayers, the name 3:16 Mining, is okay, but we draw the line at the word/name “JESUS”.
Even these unbelievers realize the POWER in the name “JESUS”.
Yet His own people COWER when having an opportunity to invoke the POWER of His name. STOP IT! You diminish your Lord by denying His name.
I pray that you all don’t dismiss my point as minor or silly and that you cease to use the euphemism “in YOUR name”. That you will take every opportunity to use the name of Jesus. I pray these things in the name of JESUS CHRIST my Lord and Savior, Amen.
All Hail The Power Of Jesus Name
1.All hail the power of Jesus’ name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all.
2.Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,
ye ransomed from the fall,
hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all.
Hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all.
3.Sinners, whose love can ne’er forget
the wormwood and the gall,
go spread your trophies at his feet,
and crown him Lord of all.
Go spread your trophies at his feet,
and crown him Lord of all.
4.Let every kindred, every tribe
on this terrestrial ball,
to him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all.
To him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all.
5.Crown him, ye martyrs of your God,
who from his altar call;
extol the Stem of Jesse’s Rod,
and crown him Lord of all.
Extol the Stem of Jesse’s Rod,
and crown him Lord of all.
6.O that with yonder sacred throng
we at his feet may fall!
We’ll join the everlasting song,
and crown him Lord of all.
We’ll join the everlasting song,
and crown him Lord of all.
CELEBRATE JESUS!!!

Inasmuch as by the example of both your post itself and your Dragnet tagline (”Just the facts”) you value blunt frankness without seemingly caring for courtesy, I’ll respond in like manner: while your basic point is correct and needful, I found your post to be surpassingly rude and therefore not conducive in the least to persuasion. You may have all the facts, but if you have not love...Please consider Ephesians 4:29 and 1 Peter 3:15b.
