Have you ever been in the belly of a whale? Oh, you may not have been literally swallowed by a whale, but if you're a child of God you've been there before. Whenever we run from the Lord we just run into more trouble. There are Christians who know better, they've read their Bible, they know what God wants them to do, but they refuse to repent and end up being chastened by the Lord.
Proverbs 13:24
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
Psalms 118:18
The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.
How many times after being saved, have we deserved to be thrown into hell? We should be very thankful that God only chastens us after we sin and doesn't give us what we truly deserve. God chastens us with His rod, and it's that chastening that gives us understanding of our wrongdoing. God used the cross to save us, but He uses His chastening rod to correct us when we're wrong.
Proverbs 22:15
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
1 Corinthians 11:32
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
The reason why God applies a harsh correction to our lives is so that we won't get condemned with the world. The Church in Laodicea didn't seem to want or need Jesus very much and God chastised them because He loved them and didn't want them ending up like the world. Remember, God is going to destroy the wickedness of this world one day, and He has no problem using His rod to drive His Children out of Babylon.
Job 5:17
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
I thought this was about cars. As everyone knows, God drives a Plymouth.
Yup, a Demon. Right there in Matthew 8.
Didn’t end so well, though.
Went straight into a whole herd of pigs, then down the slope into the lake.
Got the Plymouth after that, I suppose?

No, it says in the Bible that God drove Adam and Eve from Eden in a Fury.
Jonah was obstinate, but so can we be sometimes. Thanks for the reminder.
Amen. Praise the Lord
