I’m not arguing that the Catholic church can’t set its own rules I’m just saying that Jesus himself did not forbid any believer from taking communion because they were divorced and remarried. I would simply postulate that the word “worthily” is open to all manner of interpretation and debate.

The Catholic church gets around all this by granting annulments for $500. So for $500 you are worthy again. I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy I’m not on a crusade. If I decide I want to take communion again I’ll get out the checkbook. Jesus also never said “sell anullments in remembrance of me” but the Catholic church does it.

    Except one denies the scriptures
  1. The Apostle wrote that those who took communion unworthily died because of it (they were not taking naps).
  2. The LORD Jesus Christ forbade remarriage after divorce and condemned it as adultery.
  3. The debate and interpretation is only relevant to those with apostolic authority.

  1. Either the marriage was valid or it wasn't. I would think one would want a ruling on that.
  2. I don't think it will cost anything if one has no money. Otherwise those who profit from the labor should pay the workmen who labor on their behalf.
  3. I think there are a preponderance of genuinely honest participants who want to uncover the truth and show mercy if they are able.
  4. The most difficult cases are probably those between Catholics who were married in the Catholic Church.
  5. It seems to me that if the LORD can wait to drink the fruit of the vine until He drinks it with the disciples in the Father's kingdom, one can wait with patience if one must due to circumstances beyond one's control to do no harm.
