As a 30 year member of Sacred Heart church in Atlanta I abide by the rules.

But truthfully Jesus said “ do this in remembrance of me”. He did not say “ do this in remembrance of the Catholic Church rules”. He did not say “ do this in rememberance of me unless you are divorced and remarried”. Personally I doubt whether Jesus Christ wanted communion to be denied to any believer.

There is this warning from the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians. I note the importance of self examination and not partaking unworthily if not discerning the Lord's body and blood in the bread and wine. He promised to set the rest in order when he came to Corinth, which imply rules. The Apostle wrote in the same book (different chapter) "And so ordain I in all churches" so the principle of apostolic authority to set rules is well established.

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

First Corinthians, Catholic chapter eleven, Protestant verses twenty three to thirty four,
as authorized, but not authored, by King James

But you don't have problems with Bergoglio and Gregory changing the rules when it involves mortal sin?

Who, at the Last Supper, was divorced and remarried? That’s the only time Christ distributed Holy Communion.

Why do you think Christ also gave us the Sacrament of Confession? Do you know the Act of Contrition? It states ... I firmly resolve with the help of thy grace to sin no more and avoid the near occasion of sin.

It must be gratifying to know that after 2000 years of error the Church finally agrees with you.
