This happened today, Good Friday 2017. Setting: a thriving suburban parish in the Archdiocese of New York. The priest who presided over the Good Friday Service is a visiting priest, a pretty boy who has appeared on the Colbert Report and has tweeted about things such as how excited he was to meet the beautiful actress Julianne Moore at some event. (Moore is, indeed, beautiful, but also happens to be an active abortion rights activist. I hope to God she doesn’t call herself “Catholic”.) Anyway, the Good Friday sermon made ZERO mention of Christ or the Crucifixion. Instead, the sermon was all about the specific men on death row in a particular state: how unfair their punishments are, etc. The names of every one of these prisoners was read with great dramatic effect. This parish is one of the two or three richest in the NY Archdiocese, which means it is one of 100 richest parishes in the country. I mention the “rich” part to make the point that the most “influential” Catholics in the USA are being subjected to this bull——. (The priest seemed surprised no one applauded him; I was surprised no one had walked out.)

What I just described is outrageous, and would have been such had it occurred in any type of parish. But the fact that this happened in a thriving, rich parish, filled with sophisticated people, means the CATHOLIC CHURCH in the USA is in big trouble!

A sermon (in the ecclesial sense) is NOT a homily, and that per se is reason enough to disregard what this neo-political/leftist, activist so-called Priest had to say about Good Friday. He will be held accountable for this crime.

Only one priest.....pray for him.

Just one priest does not mean the Catholic Church everywhere is in trouble.
