What hugely ramped it up was Israel becoming a nation again. Nobody saw that coming.

Israel was being planned when the Zionists (Who were extremely productive) began settling in the rural areas of Vilayet of Syria in the late 19th century. After the Ottoman Empire dissolved and the British ushered in their mandate, establishing Israel (Which was constantly being lobbied to British authorities before and after WWI) was only a matter of time.

Nobody saw that coming.I've got to disagree with you somewhat, The nation Israel created in the 20th century has nothing to do with the Israel of the Old Testament other then the both have the same name, and have individuals running around attempting to be like Old Testament Jews even though genetically they have nothing to do with each other. Jesus Christ destroy the first century Old Jewish empire in AD 70. Jesus Christ did not restore that Old Kingdom. The nation of Israel created in the 20th century is a creation of people that do not have a true linage genetically to the Old past. The 20th century Jewish creation might think they are part of the 1st century Jewish kingdom but it is just wishful thinking.
