Ya, the first five books of the OT are replete with this type of rebellion,
Yep. So then you are familiar with the price God’s people paid when in rebellion. Does our culture risk that too? [somewhat rhetorical, just thinking]
Exodus 22:18
“You shall not suffer a witch to live.”
Revelation 2:20-23
“Nevertheless, I have this against you: you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and it will repay each of you according to your deeds.”
This woman’s teaching was the deep things of Satan (2:24).
Point is: these “witches” are without excuse. In Romans 1:18-32 we see what happens to those who will not retain knowledge of God, having been exposed to the truth.
Christ may be willing to give time to repent. But people who harden their hearts to that point may find he has hardened it for them.
