I think the Biden situation, in some respects, is worse than Herod’s. Although many Christians think the Biblical translation of “brother” means his full brother, we know from history Herod married his half-brother’s wife. And not even being a full brother still caused John the Baptist to object to the point of losing his life. Frankly, the Biden’s situation is much worse with the damage it is causing to the family. By the way, the same Greek word for brother was used for “Jesus’ brothers” in the Gospel, so the idea the Bible says Jesus had full blood brothers is obviously incorrect. Be careful with translations not tied to tradition.

Under the old Biblical rules you took in your dead brother’s wife and gave her children. Maybe that’s his excuse!
Agree. The damage to the children is incalculable. We have to pray for them, the surviving members didn’t deserve that.
Also, I suppose John also had problems with the old law in that Herod was “divorced” when he married again. Josephus also claims that was one of the problems he had with Herod. From a moral perspective it is outrageous.

You are correct. The author is wrong. It was unlawful for a divorced wife to marry her ex's brother. But the widow would marry the brother.
