A Catholic nun in Spain has caused outrage after she suggested that the Virgin Mary may not have been a virgin after all. The controversial Dominican nun invited the ire of the Catholic Church who responded to her statements in anger.
Sister Lucia Caram was speaking on a talk show over the weekend when she let slip her belief that contradicts one of the key pillars of her faith.
I think that Mary was in love with Joseph and that they were a normal couple, and the normal thing is to have sex, Caram told Risto Mejideon during Sundays Chester in Love programme.
According to Roman Catholic faith, the Virgin Mary is believed to have become pregnant with Jesus, the son of God, by immaculate conception.
"Its hard to believe and to take in. Weve stuck with rules that we have invented without reaching the true message, she added.

I've heard competing theories from people of differing denominations, that say, basically
Joseph had other sons before Mary (he was older, after all)
Joseph and Mary had other children after Jesus, the "usual" way
Or, Jesus was an only child and Mary was "ever Virgin".

Other than being a witness that an angel visited him be apparently wasnt a big part of the story.
The problem is that all we actually know is what the bible says, which is very little to nothing at all, which causes people to speculate. The only thing more fascinating than what the bible says, is what it doesn’t say.
On the other hand, it’s just one very small collection of books and letters, and yet still says so much.

And I'm telling you that, for an orthodox Christian, the answer to your question can only be, "perfect obedience to the commandment, 'Honor thy father and thy mother'".

Somebody ought to teach this nun how to read and then get her a bible.

Joe?
Yeah.
Remember how we’ve never had sex and that we’re married?
YEAH???!!!!
Well, I’m pregnant.

which only puts any perceived issues with Mary having a normal human nature off on her own mother, never mind cutting her own familial ties with the different guys, from Abraham on, who had expressly been given the promise that their seed was the one who was promised That comment makes no sense at all. Mary wasn't the product of a virgin birth.

I have long been most influenced by Mark’s Christmas story.

Isn’t this a Catholic caucus thread?
To: Morgana
I’m going to walk back my statements. I thought she was making the argument that Mary was not “ever virgin”. I now realize that she was saying that Mary had sex before Jesus was born. The bible really does say otherwise, and contrary to this nun’s observations of human nature, people CAN show self control.
This is especially true in their culture back then when you didn’t have to look at practically naked women in ads just to check your facebook news feed.

Not sure why this is a “catholic caucus”. There are enough loons in Christianity today to go around.

‘Honor thy father and thy mother’”.
I’m not talking about what the bible tells us to do. I’m asking about how Jesus referred to his mother. It’s right there in black and white (or red and white, depending on the type of bible you have).

I’m not saying what I think. I’m asking a question. That’s really all. And it is specifically about what Jesus had to say about his mother whenever the subject came up.

If it was important to know, The Bible would probably tell.
EVERYTHING ELSE is just waste of time speculation.
Isn’t there something important these people could be doing?

Look up every use of “until” in scripture. You might be surprised at how often it means, “forever.”
