Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
The Book of Psalms
(Psalm 72)
Psalm 72
Of Solomon.
1 Endow the king with your justice, O God,
the royal son with your righteousness.
2 May he judge your people in righteousness,
your afflicted ones with justice.
3 May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
the hills the fruit of righteousness.
4 May he defend the afflicted among the people
and save the children of the needy;
may he crush the oppressor.
5 May he endure[a] as long as the sun,
as long as the moon, through all generations.
6 May he be like rain falling on a mown field,
like showers watering the earth.
7 In his days may the righteous flourish
and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.
8 May he rule from sea to sea
and from the River[b] to the ends of the earth.
9 May the desert tribes bow before him
and his enemies lick the dust.
10 May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores
bring tribute to him.
May the kings of Sheba and Seba
present him gifts.
11 May all kings bow down to him
and all nations serve him.
12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help.
13 He will take pity on the weak and the needy
and save the needy from death.
14 He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
for precious is their blood in his sight.
15 Long may he live!
May gold from Sheba be given him.
May people ever pray for him
and bless him all day long.
16 May grain abound throughout the land;
on the tops of the hills may it sway.
May the crops flourish like Lebanon
and thrive[c] like the grass of the field.
17 May his name endure forever;
may it continue as long as the sun.
Then all nations will be blessed through him,[d]
and they will call him blessed.
18 Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel,
who alone does marvelous deeds.
19 Praise be to his glorious name forever;
may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
Amen and Amen.
20 This concludes the prayers of David son of Jesse.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Yesterday's Psalm spoke of respect for Our Elders, and David's love for his son Solomon. When we studied David (back when we were looking at Bible personalities), we learned of his BIG SIN, his committing adultery with Bathsheba and sending her husband Uriah on a suicide mission to get rid of him.
The relationship resulted in a son, who died shortly after his birth, and David realized the severity of his sin. Some of the earlier Psalms (especially Psalm 51) were written during this dark time in David's life.
Another son was born to Bathsheba, and was named Solomon. This Psalm is David's prayer for his son Solomon, who David appointed his successor amid amid great family and civil turmoil. You can read about the way Bathsheba maneuvered Solomon into the position in the first chapters of the First Book of Kings.
Although this is a personal psalm, it is also relevant to us as we pray for those in leadership. We don't have "kings" in our republic, but those in leadership wield an immense amount of power and affect our lives in profound ways. We are enjoined to pray for them, which was not always easy. But, now, it has become not only a mandate, but a pleasure!
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
God Bless America!

Numbers 6:23 Say to Aaron and his sons, This is the way you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them, The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually). And they shall put My name upon the Israelites, and I will bless them.
And this we do, proclaim and agree in Jesus name. Amen. Praying that verse 16 would manifest to the world so that they would know that God has blessed Israel according to His promise.

This is truly one fascinating Messianic Psalm, especially verse 17 with his name "Yinon". Shiloh is in verse 17 as well.
Also, in that verse is the phrase בו כל־גוים "in him [are] all nations".
This is one of those Psalms that will be unrolled in the World to Come, for all to behold and marvel when they see what was written by David regarding his son.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!

IVE the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son.
2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.
3 The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. |
4 He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.
6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
9 They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.
10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.
12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.
13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.
14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.
15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.
16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.
18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.
19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.
20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.
