What’s Happening to Canadian Churches?
Radio Canada International ^ | 12/13/16 | Marc Montgomery

In the news this week, a large well-known church in Montreal will close and be offered for sale. Trinity Memorial was built to accommodate 1,000 people, but as the number of parishioners has diminished the Archdeacon says the costs of maintenance, “is beyond their capacity to maintain”.

In Windsor Ontario, another church is set to be torn down. Originally built in 1922, with additions in 1955, city council has approved its demolition to be replaced with housing.

Trinity Anglican Memorial Church in Montreal will close in 2017 at a date yet to be determined. Trinity was built in 1922 and officially opened in 1926. It was dedicated as a memorial to soldiers who died in World War I

Melanie Paul Tanovich had wanted to purchase the church and hall for a music and dance studio but was turned down. Quoted in the CBC she said, “”It’s a great shame,” Tanovich said after the vote. “The structure has been confirmed by highly respected professionals. It’s beautiful inside. There’s an ambience that just can’t be appreciated unless you stand in it”. It seems destined to make way for a housing development.

All across Canada, churches are being abandoned and sold, the historic buildings are often then torn down.

Better the churches are torn down, than to become mosques.

The same sickness that supposes that islam and other fanatical filth is a valid religion. They are retards and morons... just like the Pope and Catholic charities.

As a well-known preacher still says, “Go to church this
Sunday!”

An apostate church has no reason for being.

I'm a Catholic who is rather confused by (if not disappointed with) the *current* Pope. But if your attitude is contempt for "traditional" Catholicism I'd encourage you to keep it to yourself.

If,by chance,I've misunderstood your post I do apologize.

No...I will not be going to church this Sunday or anytime soon.

I simply don’t recognize them as christian churches any longer.

The message and mission has changed, and it’s not one I am willing to listen to or participate in, nor is it one I want inculcated into my kids.

Agreed. Death by prosperity. The same thing was said about Massachusetts puritans—they came to do good and instead they did well. OTOH, an Anglican church in Montreal?

I agree. It should be considered desecration to allow any church to be made into a mosque.
It is very sad to see the church close however.

I don’t accept islam and never will. I’ll do my best to stop any islamo POS from harming innocents even if you send me to Hell for it.

We switched to a non-denominational church years ago - concentrates on the Bible and Jesus instead of other forms of activism and we love it.

Well. Baby out with the bathwater?

Agreed that MANY of them aren’t recognizable as Christian
Churches any longer and I don’t wish to attend those either,
nor do I.

IF the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not
faithfully preached by the preacher and missions aren’t
supported by the denomination, I’m out.

However, I gotta TRY at least fairly often to “forsake
not the assembling of yourselves together, all the more
as you see the day of the Lord drawing nigh.”

CHRIST’S message and mission has NOT changed. - I
suppose it is the era of the Laodecian church, and I’m
sorry for that; very, very sorry.

I used to read in the Bible about how Christians would be
beheaded for their faith, and at that time I hadn’t heard
much about “beheading” - until the Muslims started really
taking their Koran real serious. Nor had I ever heard of
the past murderous crusades by Muslim hordes that were
only stopped at the Gates of Vienna, otherwise the whole
world would have become a caliphate with more Muslim
factions fighting and killing each other for control.
