Christians are NOT doing anything wrong if they follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and the New Testament.

And, the teachings of Jesus say that Christians will be hated by the societies around them.

To be a Christian is to be counter cultural. If a Christian opposes the hedonism, fornication, drug use, pornography, political corruption, unrestricted abortion and open homosexuality, the Christian will encounter disdain, hostility and persecution.

Well, Catholics are being attacked ALL the time, it seems. Does that mean Catholics are doing something right?

That phrase has always bothered me for one reason. I heard it repeatedly from someone who claimed to be persecuted for his "true" Christianity but didn't realize that he was being persecuted for being an obnoxious human being.

We had an uneasy friendship until he became offended because I didn't cross my theological t's and dot my theological i's as he did, so he declared me a heretic. Although I was not a member of his church, the elders of his very conservative Presbyterian denomination ordered him to apologize to me and my family for statements that he (and elders) knew were false. He left the denomination rather than apologize and ultimately left the community. The amount of damage that person did in the local Christian community (particularly, the reformed segment) was huge.

That phrase can be used as a shield for inappropriate behavior by the self-righteous among the Christians.
