A day of prayer with a focus on the plight of refugees and migrants will take place across the United States Dec. 12, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, said the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington.
"As Christmas approaches and especially on this feast of Our Lady, we are reminded of how our savior Jesus Christ was not born in the comfort of his own home, but rather in an unfamiliar manger," said Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston.
"To all those families separated and far from home in uncertain times, we join with you in a prayer for comfort and joy this Advent season," he added in a Dec. 1 statement.
In issuing the cardinal's statement, the USCCB said the feast day "will be a time to place before a merciful God the hopes, fears, and needs of all those families who have come to the U.S. seeking a better life."
Prayer services and special Masses will be celebrated in many U.S. dioceses across the country Dec. 12 as the Catholic Church "continues to accompany migrants and refugees seeking an opportunity to provide for their families," it said.
"So many families are wondering how changes to immigration policy might impact them," Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles, USCCB vice president, said in a statement. "We want them to know the church is with them, offers prayers on their behalf and is actively monitoring developments at the diocesan, state and national levels to be an effective advocate on their behalf."
The USCCB suggested that Catholics unable to attend such a service or Mass or who live in an area where one is not being held should "offer prayers wherever they may be." It pointed Catholics to a scriptural rosary developed by the USCCB's Migration and Refugee Services division called "Unity in Diversity," which includes prayers for migrants and refugees, and available on the website www.justiceforimmigrants.org.
The USCCB said it planned to develop additional pastoral resources, "reflecting the active collaboration of various USCCB Committees whose mandates touch on the concerns of migrants and refugees." Catholic News Service
"How about we don't. How about you stop hijacking solemnities and feast days and stop dousing the fire of the Holy Spirit with your scripted press releases committees, "pastoral resources" and socialist themes? "
"Here's a novel idea...how about celebrating the reason Our Lady appeared to St. Juan Diego and the great, 10 year, daily pentecost-like conversion of the Aztec indigeneous to the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church? How about studying and reliving the mystery of St. Juan Diego's tilma; the Castillan roses in winter and Her miraculous image that science cannot explain and it's meaning? How about teaching on the mysterious, multi-layered name of "Guadalupe"?"
Bergoglio, himself, abused Our Lady's Feast Day of Her Immaculate Conception with a bizarre U.N. propaganda tree-hugger light show on the facade of St. Peter's Basilica last year. Bergoglio also announced his free and quick "Catholic divorce" program on another of Our Lady's feast days.
“Bergoglio also announced his free and quick “Catholic divorce” program on another of Our Lady’s feast days. “
What day?
Our Lady of Guadalupe is already designated as a protector of life of the unborn. Her feast day is December 12th.
The painting on the tilma shows Mary trampling on the Moon—the symbol of the serpent god to whom the Aztecs offered human sacrifice.
Therefore, it would be more appropriate to make the feast a day of prayer for an end to human sacrifice in the United States. A day of prayer for an end to the Democrat party, the party of human sacrifice.
Since 70-80% of immigrants vote pro-abortion, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe should be a day of prayer for an end to immigration, because continued immigration will destroy the pro-life movement.
Amazon prime has 2 Our Lady of Gaudalupe shows. I just watched them 2 days ago and learned so much about this apparition I didn’t know. I will definitely starting a Novena on the 3rd.
The birth of Mary, September 8th.
I’m disappointed that you had to ask.
Yep, I'll be praying for the deportation of all illegal aliens to happen ASAP.
I know the BD blessed mother. Didn’t know he made an announcement
So sad that this pope goes out of his way to deliberately undermine and insult Catholics.
Unrelated. Here is some (secular) holiday cheer.

It’s because our tax dollars go to pay for this illegals and legal immigrant care
The Bishops love it
As per Laura Ingraham on her second hour today
She’s hardly a Rome hater
Some prayers in Sunday Mass are regularly agenda driven. This means it’s also a regular disgrace.
