This week, authorities closed down another makeshift mosque in Rome for failure to meet building norms and for non-compliance with safety standards, the sixth such mosque-closing in the last months.
In response, Muslims in Rome have threatened to invade the Vatican to pray in Saint Peters Basilica, which Italian media are calling Islamic blackmail.
As many as 300 people can pray here; where will we go if its closed?, said a young Muslim man identified only as Hussein, who works in a hardware store not from one of the Islamic centers that police have closed.
This center is located in the eastern suburbs, a district where half of the inhabitants are Muslims and the heart of the Islamic protest against the closure of Islamic places of worship.
We live here, we work here, we cannot go to pray in Parioli [the other side of town], says Anwar, the president of a neighborhood prayer hall.
A number in Romes Muslim community have suggested staging a more provocative protest in the form of a flash mob.
They wanted to go and pray Allahu Akbar throughout the city, all the way to the Vatican, said Bachcu. In the end we managed to stop them, but if they start these initiatives, what do we do?
Last month, thousands of Muslims gathered outside the Roman Colosseum to protest the closures of a number of garage mosques, purportedly to avoid young people becoming radicalized.
During the demonstration, an imam led the group in chanting Allahu Akbar, as they prostrated themselves on the ground.

Why threaten to invade?
It’s only a matter of time before Francis invites them in.
Invite them to a pig roast in the middle of the Vatican?
Muslims in the Colosseum!!
Why didn’t I think of that?!
Is it a Pay-Per-View? Anybody know what time it’s on?
“Muslims invade the Vatican, this Pope will order the Swiss Guards to stand down & let the Moorish hordes into St. Peters.”
That’s probably been the plan from the start, with the outcome being Frank looks like some kind of compassionate and tolerant peace maker, setting the stage for a ‘new’ satanic false religion.
He already has. On November 6, Francis had a muslim prisoner serve as one his altar boys. The muslim brought his “prayer rug” and prayed to his false god on Vatican grounds.

“Issam (the muslim) asked one request, on the trip (to St Peter’s Basilica), of his warden to bring along his Moslem prayer rug and say his prayers. He did this once on the way from the prison to the Vatican and once somewhere on the premises of the Vatican!”
Issam (the muslim) stated, If the popes pray in mosques why shouldnt I do it in the Vatican?”
Right on.
Since when is "traditional" capitalized? "Catholic" should always be capitalized unless one uses it as an adjective. It simply means "universal."
Are you NOT capitalizing the word as an insult to those folks who do not agree with you?
Why are you insulting the pope? Remember:
He was elected by the OTHER cardinals. He didn't elect himself. All those cardinals/red hats KNEW exactly what his policies and politics were BEFORE they elected him, so perhaps you should blame THEM for electing Pope Francis.
Just curious. No offense meant.
Alas, probably can't get an Italian government channel to run with it, but you probably could make a deplorable worldwide profit off a series of such broadcasts (to be continued at least until the ISIS knock offs of the Roman originals cease production), even granting the repairs needed to bring the Colosseum's infrastructure back up to spec. And it would be cheaper than keeping them in open society. IIRC Silvio Berlusconi has a lot of his money in TV, maybe he could be talked into producing it.
It shouldn’t offend Catholics. A non-Catholic is not part of the Catholic Church and, therefore, certainly can not possibly be its visible head/pope.
Oh, I dunno.
How about Mecca?
Me too.
Sounds like Francine is “growing in office.” Who does he think he is, a Republican Supreme Court pick?
