Amalek is a descendant of Esau, the eternal enemy of Israel. God said He would wipe Amalek off the face of the Earth. (Exodus, chapter 17) Amalek is often used symbolicly for any ennemy of Israel.

Cyrus was the king of Persia / Iran who God referred to literally as his "Messiah" to restore Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple. (Books of Ezra and Nehemiah)
