Hello fellow FREEPer prayer warriors and believers!
This evening, we got an email from our employer that portends some very bad news.
To put it simply, one of the adults in the household is highly likely to be facing reduced (perhaps down to zero) income in the very near future. We use this income for, as you can imagine, to pay essential bills.
We care for an elderly relative, living at home, who has dementia. And we care for a youngster in college.
Essentially this is, dare I say:
Not good.
So, God is greater than all of this and He is not taken by surprise, right? He is sovereign over all of these things.
I humbly, very humbly, ask you to pray for us once or twice or more if you can, asking Jesus to be with us and to help us cope. Ask for a new stream of income/job that will help us pay the bills.
We have begun in earnest already cutting our expenses. Sadly, some of this is in the form of charitable contributions we make monthly.
Some of it is expendable monies, too, of course. But we really aren't too foolish in our spending, at least in my opinion.
But I ramble. We will also need God's strength to explain this situation to the child.
Thank you in advance for your prayers. God bless.
I join with our other Prayer Warriors in asking the Lord to provide for you.
Prayers up for you. Been where you are. It wasn’t any fun. But it isn’t the end of the world.
Prayers to you. I know it’s hard but did you consider a go to fund to help some? Even if only for freepers?
Praying for you and your family!
Update: We are now posting around 6:00 pm on December 8.
The meeting took place around 1:00 and lasted about two hours. In a public place—an effort to keep things from getting out of hand.
Today’s events are a true testimony to the power of prayer. I thank each and every one of you. The petitions made to the LORD on our behalf are appreciated and were heard by the God of Heaven.
To wit: the bosses/owners of the business were unusually and VERY uncharacteristically empathetic and understanding. Having known these people for more than 15 years, believe me, that in itself is YUUUUUGE.
I won’t belabor the details unless you really want them. The bottom line is this: a job remains for one of our two breadwinners. The job will not have all of the responsibilities (badgering) and not the pay—but there will be an income stream. Even more of a blessing, the owners are keeping the options open for us to define the hours and reasonable pay.
Some of the perks are not staying—they are insisting on taking away “employee” status and making us an “independent contractor”. No doubt this is to save money on taxes. And the cell phone that was used to do business is going away. The latter is not a problem. We just won’t be answering the phone for the business...that will go to someone else.
Over all, this was a beautiful answer to prayer. We expected a much more harsh response. We frankly thought there would be ZERO income. This is not the case....there were lots of hugs and even some tears from these people who have been acidic and cruel and vicious at times.
One particular note of the evidence of God’s hand in this ordeal. Every single morning I awaken and read a Psalm. I read them in order. I try to read ONE a day...well, today’s Psalm, in God’s providence, was Psalm 91. The Psalm spoke to me as a hand of protection in this very trying time.
So, when we all awoke this morning, I shared with the other adult three things:
1. The very word of God, Psalm 91.
2. This thread (they don’t visit FR too much), so they could see how many people were praying for the situation.
3. A basic bit of financial/negotiating advice for the meeting.
Before the meeting, we looked again at the thread for encouragement....and imagine how our hearts were enthralled when we saw post 113 by Stars & Stripes Forever....the beautiful prayer and then the recalling of the very same Psalm that God, in His Providence, led us to read today. Tears were shed at that time, as we saw anew the evidence of Him working in our lives.
We are filled with grateful hearts, and want to thank you for taking time to lift us up. Praise fills our souls. Thank you for the fellowship, even through cyberspace, and the connection between us and the heavenly places.
Will definitely update this thread as time goes on. We ask that you periodically keep us in prayer as things are still fluid (though flowing in a positive direction) and we will do the same for each and every one of you.
Blessings and Peace to all of you in Jesus’ name,
SoFloFreeper

Good news! Prayers continuing!
It seems to be a reasonable outcome and at least you won’t have the same stress level.
Thank you God.
Wonderful blessing from God! Thank you for keeping us updated.
It is always wonderful to hear testimonies of God at work in our lives. Thanks for the update.
Thank you for your update. Good luck, God Bless, and have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. You’ll still be in my prayers.
Praise God for his Mercy.
Thank you for your update.
It is so encouraging to hear when our prayers are answered, especially given your cheerful, humble and gracious attitude in the way you have accepted the outcome as a blessing.
When one door closes God often opens a window to unexpected blessings that, if you are patient will blossom even brighter with time.
Prayers Up, God Bless
Amen to all of the above. Your faithfulness in this has been a strong testimony to prayer and His sovereignty.
Great news! Prayers answered!
Praise God for this positive outcome!
