Richmond, Va., Sep 13, 2016 / 04:56 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Soon after Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Kaine suggested the Catholic Church would change on same-sex marriage, the Bishop of Richmond has said Catholic teaching on marriage is constant.
More than a year after the U.S. Supreme Courts ruling on marriage, and despite recent statements from the campaign trail, the Catholic Churchs 2000-year-old teaching to the truth about what constitutes marriage remains unchanged and resolute, Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo of Richmond said Sept. 13.
As Catholics, we believe all humans warrant dignity and deserve love and respect, and unjust discrimination is always wrong, he said. Our understanding of marriage, however, is a matter of justice and fidelity to our Creators original design.
Bishop DiLorenzos statement does not mention Kaine. The former U.S. Senator is a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in the Diocese of Richmond.
Marriage is the only institution uniting one man and one woman with each other and with any child who comes from their union, said the bishop.
Kaine made his comments in a Sept. 10 keynote address at the national dinner for the influential LGBT advocacy group the Human Rights Campaign. He said his full, complete, unconditional support for marriage equality is at odds with the current doctrine of the church that I still attend.

America is not the Vatican. Walls or not.
Hard to believe that ANY American would be for same-sex marriage unions. For EVERY culture, country, ethnicity and nation same-gender marriage is an abomination.
The lame-stream media that promote it do NOT speak for cultures, countries and nations. They may THINK they do, as many are just plain pompous, but they don't.
It’s hard to believe we elected an islamist POS that is our president.
The cynic or anti-Catholic can say that the Church would never change its policies on gays for fear that gay "Catholics" would no longer see becoming a priest as a way to deal with their disturbed desires.
Either way, Kaine is wrong.
I shake my head when I think of it. In Islam abortion is not only very wrong, it's illegal. My husband and I lived in the KSA for five years so I KNOW that about abortion and Islam.
Our POS seems to present himself as a satanist who obviously doesn't give a darn about unborn babies. There will be a reckoning someday for those baby-killing girls/women and their abortion doctors.
Shame on you for your despicable pro-abortion posts.
Tim Kaine is a CINO — Catholic in Name Only.
Bishops reaping what they sow by not denying clowns like Kaine Holy Communion.
oh and here he thought he was pope
There’s not one state that passed a marriage amendment that would pass it by more if they voted again.
The state’s involvement, at least in the modern era, has been an absolute disaster for the institution of marriage. Civil law changes. Thus the definition of marriage changes for those that are conditioned to get their definition of marriage from the state. From civil remarriage after divorce to really easy civil divorce to ‘gay marriage’. Pope Leo XIII warned about his in Arcanum, 130 + years ago.

100% correct!
With the screed for secularization, that is, taking GOD out of every aspect of our life, even "In God We Trust" might disappear.
The Left hates the laws of God because those laws keep them from doing exactly what they want...which is usually contrary to God's laws: fornication, divorce-remarriage, adultery, indecent exposure (whether for "art" or not), same-sex "marriage"...etc.
It's not so tough to obey God's laws. After all, these years on earth are a blink of an eye...and eternity never does end, so why not be a good person for these short decades? What's not to figure out?
