.. and believes in Jesus, Is he saved?

The proper question is who does the Mormon say Jesus is?

If not God then John 3:16 is moot to him.

If I believe that one verse, but walk around preaching that this “Jesus” actually returned to earth, and was reincarnated as Ronnie Van Zant and sang vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd..... am I saved?
It would seem that belief in Jesus is not real, unless you accept the baseline of what Christendom agrees Jesus to actually be.

>>> If a Mormon is reading John 3:16 in the KJV and believes in Jesus, Is he saved?

Depends on your definition of salvation.

True Christianity has one definition.

Mormons have several... beginning with resurrection from the dead just prior to the Great White Throne judgment. This is the first level of salvation (according to them), and represents the fruits of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Higher levels of salvation such as making it to the third heaven requires works.

I think your question is better stated this way:

Are all Mormons going to hell?

Answer: NO... Because I believe that some were saved prior to their being deceived and joining the Mormon church.

Are all Southern Baptists (or other Christian denoms) going to heaven???

Answer: NO... because many fail to take John 3:16 to heart, and never ask Jesus to become their savior.

The truth of the Gospel is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit... not by man’s religion. I suppose that there are those who grew up in the Mormon church and actually read John 3:16 for what it says, and became saved in response to God’s call upon their heart. When this happens though, it is usually followed by that person leaving the Mormon faith.

Again, which Jesus. There are a lot of different Jesus’ running around so you have to be sure you have the right one. Even Satan believed in who Jesus is/was. You should check into what the Jesus of the Mormon’s is.

This has been a wonderful discussion of basic Christian Theology pointing out the enormous ignorance of even the fundamentals of salvation through belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God ( not David). I actually saw someone saying you had to believe Jn 3:16 “out of the KJV”!! What total ignorance. The KJV changed God’s word from its actual meaning to somethings not even close. Did you know that “Church” was the replacement for the Greek word “ The called out” ? Totally different concepts. Did you also know that “born again” is not in God’s word? It was a distortion of the Aramaic “Born from above” Totally different concepts. The KJV was rewritten to gain control over the autonomous children of God and put them under central control so they sit there like sheep in a mortgaged building with an over seer. “Church” was an English directive of the word “Circe or Kirke” meaning circle which was the worship configuration of the Pagans. Where does this Sunday thing come from? Tithing is not even in the New Testament. anyway, I enjoyed the discussion.

Jesus said before Abraham was I Am...he chose to use the exact words that God Himself used when giving His name.....I Am

"If a Mormon is reading John 3:16 in the KJV and believes in Jesus, Is he saved?"

Are you confusing hearing with believing, faithing, as in a life faithing in Jesus as The One GOD sent for our salvation?
